Do I really need to buy the software Soundeasy v30 to get a good box design?

Good Morning everyone. So I have sold all my speaker box design programs and am looking for 1 good program. I had a lot of programs and it’s was way to much for me to go back in forth between them all. I had bass box pro for years and The the subwoofer design tool box and winspeakerz and winsd and a few others. I am only building ported boxes and then figuring and adjust from measurements with the drivers in the box. Like stuffing and port size and length. Am going to be using birch plywood I have laying around at work I bought and then build the correct boxes for the speaker drivers with the wood I want to use. Am looking at building book shelf or stand mount speakers for now. Does anyone have any suggestions for a really good box design program if it’s not soundeasy v30? Thanks Jeff

Visaton Boxsim is free. Steep learning curve but can be used with non Visaton drivers

As you likely know, Bassbox is good and has a great driver database.

In shareware, have only seen this this replicated in VituixCaD and my rough check app - Speaker Box Lite.

I assume the algorithms are identical for regular sealed & ported designs.

So it would depend on what special/additional features you want.

I've use WinISD (free) and it doesn't do transmission lines, horns, waveguides, or anything exotic. It's not a CAD application. It just helps with the volume and port dimensions. And it only does the woofer box design. It doesn't help with integrating midranges or tweeters, and it doesn't help with the crossover design.

Okay. Thanks for letting me know about windISD. It’s been a few years senc. I used it.

Yes bass box pro does Have a nice size driver data base but Not updated much. Also it’s has an 80’s interface feel to it (like the old JBL program but, a few updated features). Funny no one really bash’s bass box pro like other forums. That’s why I like this forum it’s black or white. No screwing around because money is well money and is definitely doesn’t grown on trees .

Speaker Box Lite, has a huge database, and theoretically can optimize for flat response , passive rad etc, has some tutorial videos also. Win ISD would by next to countercheck but there I tried to add B&C 8NDL51 and it whined, that some data is not correct...
For crossover VituxCAD is wonderfull. I would still add maybe a simpla wavelength calculation (on each side panel) regarding resonance freq for bracing. Tell us later what did you end up using, and how was your experience.

I haven't used any other program to design speakers but virtuixcad in years. There's not really a need for anything else IME, it will model pretty much everything including enclosures. It's not just for filter design.
