I just bought an HD820 and currently plug it into my macbook pro 16 inch (m1 pro) directly, according to apple, this macbook offers 3V RMS for the 300-ohm impedance HD820, and I did feel the maximum volume loud enough to be unbearable. I've heard is that the amp is just for more volume, so do I not need an amp at all?

and in this situation, macbook is a dac and also a amp, the amp is good enough to provide loud volume, but whether the dac part is also good enough for HD820?
Use high-impedance headphones with your Mac
You can connect high-impedance headphones directly to compatible Mac computers introduced in 2021 or later.
