Using my measurement interface E-MU 0404 USB ($36 delivered!) and software like REW as RTA, can act as an accurate AC volt / dBu / dBV meter!
Still need a decent DMM capable of measuring true AC voltage at audio frequencies for the voltage calibration process
Use at 100 Hz if your meter doesn't support 1 kHz true-RMS
(?Q? please recommend an inexpensive and portable - but reasonable accurate - DMM that works at 1kHz - or is 100Hz good enough? Legacy, old obsolete secondhand so cheap off eBay is fine, as is cheap Chinese, Harbor Freight etc)
Using the 1/4" combo inputs on the front panel, set gain knob to minimum, fully counter-clockwise throughout this process.
Maximum for this interface apparently is +12 dBV (~4 V RMS) or +14.2 dBu before clipping
Select the E-MU ASIO driver, assign your input and output channels, and connect output to DMM probes
in REW, Generator -> Sine Wave at 100 / 1000 Hz, set the level to -12 dBFS (why that?) and hit play.
Note the exact AC voltage reading (e.g., 1.15 V) from your DMM
Next, disconnect the DMM and loop that exact same output cable directly back into the interface line input
In REW, open the RTA window and click "Calibrate Level" using an external reference and enter the voltage from the DMM
You can then change the Y-axis units on the RTA panel from dBFS to dBu, dBV, or Volts RMS

Alternative virtual test bench analyzer software:
* Virtins Multi-Instrument
* Open Sound Meter
(?Q? please reco any such software that also accurately measures SPL acoustically, ideally cross-reference to above voltage levels. I own a UMIK-2.
Also, can the above be adapted to PowerAmp outputs to speakers, or is different gear required fo that? Will want to measure Current amperes there as well not just Volts.
