My first try at diy speakers. So I choosed a tiny 3 inch full-range speaker. A bit inspiration from McLaren F1, couldn't find any matching orange paint, so went with blue theme. For me the sound isn't the most important, not that they sounded bad in my ears. It's the build and all that comes with that, thats the fun part. It was fun doing cables, painting etc, almost like building Gundam modelkits that I started do under covid-lockdown, when my restaurant had to close down.

I paid about 1700 b / 50 usd, everything included. Well worth it, sound not bad for being so tiny & they are cute as my girlfriend said.

My friend, you are very lucky to have both self-made speakers and girlfriend who thinks they are cute.:D

BTW I really like how those cables look (especially in combination with speakers).

Thanks @WOLFAGRAM ! Yeah my goal when i made the cables, was to match them with the speaker colors as close as possible. Planning next tiny speakers and cables project at the moment. Color scheme Pink, yellow, orange, green difficult, i better roll the dice……

It looks like fun! I love the colors.

One word of advice, careful about unshielded metal speaker connectors.
If they get bumped and make contact, they short. If your amp is well-protected against shorted output, no big deal. If it isn't protected, the amp will blow! Don't ask me how I know this!

I like Pomona connectors. They are well designed and not too expensive, found on technician's benches the world over.

Thanks @MAB , it’s fun with colors isnt it. I see your point, gonna change those 90 degrees connectors to straight one so they cant ”swing” and touch eachother. And will checkout what you recomended.

You could also use some heat-shrink tubing to insulate those metal posts.
This is for an old pair of speakers with odd terminal spacing.
The can still short if not connected to the speakers, but much lower probability.

Plus, the heat shrink comes in colors.

You can also get it with heat-activated glue inside if you want it to be really secure.

My S.M.S.L A50 Pro, a 80 usd, arrived today. So did a quick setup using the tiny speakers & tv. I used optical to connect tv for now, easier, but will try hdmi-arc later. Sound is way better and I really like the amp's so far, maybe add an sub, but thats also for later.
