Several Chinese audio equipment makers ship direct to US consumers. I'm a supporter of the US Postal Service, often the last leg of the trip. They have also eliminated the "middlemen" of distributors and dealers. The US government is considering changing the import rules.

The public comment period would include lists of product classifications, so the potential impact will not be known until the proposed list is published.

Note to members .

Please don't use the above post as a jumping off point for discussions about overactive government etc etc . Keep to the operation of imports and the postal service . Please.

so the potential impact will not be known until the proposed list is published.
The potential impact will not be known till after the election as Trump says he will put a 60% tariff on Chinese goods across the board.

This makes sense, these things are normally subject to tariffs if they are imported in bulk. They've figured out how to economically ship individual units at scale from China to the US, so now it's not just bespoke or person-to-person shipments, a big chunk of the industry is moving to parcel shipments. The premise of the original low-value exception has gone out the window. Loopholes are made to be closed...

We shouldn't rely on USPS for every little item, they get overloaded easily.

He's a business man, he knows that anything above 25% would hurt America. Like if with any tariff, it gets passed down to us as consumers. Us americans design stuff well but were not that good at making stuff while asking higher prices then the competition that makes better stuff at a lower prices. The irony is that want more american jobs.
