Dirac Live cost vs RAW approach – advice needed

I'm a noob myself. What you're asking for sounds like A LOT of work even by an expert. Maybe you'll strike it lucky, but IMO showing an entitled attitude.

The usual process is, do a lot of reading and learning, give it a go and then ask specific questions that can be answered concisely.

Extended discussions can develop, but luck of the draw...

Hi to all,

I have a lot of questions, but i will start with those few...

1. How should I measure a 2.1 system with a stereo laptop?

Since my laptop and SMSL interface can only send a standard 2-channel stereo signal, does it make sense to measure my speakers and subwoofer separately?

For example, should I turn off my speaker amplifier to measure just the subwoofer, and then turn off the subwoofer to measure just the main speakers?

What is the best way roughly speaking to do this so I can get the right settings to type into my WiiM app or Equaliser APO or maybe another more suitable PC software?

2. Equalizer APO lowering my music quality

I use Qobuz on my PC to play high-resolution music files (up to 24-bit / 192 kHz) and Equalizer APO with a .wav file for room correction.

However, whenever this correction filter is turned on, it downgrades my music playback quality down to 44.1 kHz.

Is Equalizer APO forcing my whole system to drop down to a lower quality because of the .wav file's original sample rate?

I had to match microphon's and SMSL po100 Pro sample rate before making the sweeps.

Is there an easy workaround to keep my high-res 192 kHz playback active?

If you have a Wiim Ultra, you will be sending your 2ch signal through it. So measure using your Wiim Ultra. These are the steps:

1. Connect your Wiim to your PC. Make sure the correct drivers are installed. See if your Wiim pops up as an output option in REW.
2. Take these measurements, all with an acoustic timing reference: L and R speaker, L+R speaker, subwoofer alone. Do not apply a crossover.
3. Examine your measurement and decide if you want to apply an XO or not, and where. Apply your XO to your Wiim.
4. Repeat 2, but this time with the XO in place.
5. Time and phase align subwoofer to the sum of the mains using REW's alignment tool.
6. Apply PEQ's to remove all the peaks. Load these PEQ's and time alignment into the Wiim.
7. Take a verification measurement.
 
It's your Wiim. I don't own one. You can find out more easily than me.
 
This connection is impossible because the WiiM's USB port outputs audio and does not accept it as an input from a computer...
It accepts just disk storage like USB flash drives or external hard drives on it's USB port.
 
If you can not control your Wiim directly through your PC, you can take an offline measurement. You save REW's test signal as a .WAV. Set REW up to listen, then you play the test signal through your Wiim.
 
Yes Wiim Ultra can only accept INPUT via analog or S/PDIF

it OUTPUTs its stereo audio signal via USB S/PDIF and/or analog, plus phono and HDMI

Not sure what other "control" of these interfaces would be involved from a PC running REW.
 
All the stuff in your last post is meaningless. If you want to see the effect of the correction, do a verification measurement. There is no point looking at the individual Q's, f0's, and gains of every PEQ.
