Dirac Live Antics: A Different Goofball Thing With Every New Filter Attempt

I've heard of people do a MLP measurement in the Dirac app and then go to the next stage and do a Dirac Live filter and export to check the levels and distances. If they look good then they go back and remeasure the rest of the positions.

Could there be reflections causing problems with the MLP measurement?

I have two Larsen 4.3s as my left and right in my living room 3.0 setup and they are less than ideally placed with a TV in the way. When I measure them in Room EQ Wizard with the center as the acoustic reference, sometimes the distances are all I've the place but Dirac handled them fine.

I've also heard in an article on the MSO website that Macbooks with usb hdmi outputs may also cause timing problems and a laptop with a built in HDMI port is recommended.

I've completely given up on it. Dirac Live is a "broken" product as far as I'm concerned. I'l never get my $200 back, either.

I've gone back to using the Multimedia ARC Studio outboard box with ARC4 and ARC4 Analysis. It works perfectly.

I've also heard that switching from a UMIK-1 test mic to a UMIK-2 has been known to fix timing issues. I tried that and still got messed up results. Regardless, I wonder if there's anything the Dirac Live people can do about these compatibility issues. (I'm not a fan of beta testing software that I paid 200 non-refundable dollars for.) I should note that the stellar results I get with ARC Studio have been with the proprietary mic that comes with the hardware. ARC 4 analysis software is supposed to be compatible with other mics by selecting a mic type and entering a calibration file, but I haven't tried that.
