I have at one point spent some time on ART but honestly can't say I answered all the questions I had back then. I also had Storm 16 in my room for a day year or so ago, but the trial was not that successful - most likely ART and Dirac were not set-up right by the dealer and I had no time or idea how to make it better.
In that respect, if someone with practical experience could be kind enough to answer these practical questions, it would be great. Pls don't send me to AVS as don't partake there any more. And these are some fundamental questions that might be difficult to answer by piecing together 300+ pages thread.
1. When one designates supporting speakers and sets the limit of their support (e.g. 50hz), how exactly is that being rolled off, or is it at all? I assume it is not a brick wall but some filter, but could be wrong. Goes to the point that I have no idea how strong the supporting signal might be and where it would end.
2. To point above - understand that there is a slider as to intensity of the support per group of supporting speakers, so one can decide how hard to push. Do we know what the maximum setting means in terms of dB?
3. I also understand that one has to designate subs as LFE and supporting subs. Does that mean that "supporting" subs will not play LFE but just the canceling role? This would seem like quite a bit of waste. If they are just out of phase like in DBA they would still play LFE and contribute to SPL, albeit SPL would be lower than if no DBA. If this is true, could this be circumvented in 2 sub situation by connecting 4 outputs to 2 subs (L+R inputs) and have them play both roles? If not true, could in 4 sub scenarios groups of 2 subs do both LFE and support each other (like in DBA)?
4. How would ART hand over 20hz to whatever (Dirac Live? DLBC? and which one). I think I recall from Storm write up that it will continue to follow the curve set before. Not sure how you set the curve, so is there a cut-off at 20hz on the screen (so you can't go below that)? While this is a question of general interest, I do have huge room bump at 15hz that if not checked is just going to ruin it all.
Many thanks in advance if there are members that can help with the above. Would be much appreciated.
