i just bought a pair of iloud mtm mkii but now i have doubts i made a mistake: they have more power then i need and the port in the back where the iloud micro pro are ofcourse less powerfull and with the port in the front. my desk is adjacent to the wall. they have both the same ark calibration system. what do you think ?

I don't know anything about the iLoud. Did you listen/compare before buying? It seems kind-of small with not much woofer cone area. You're not going to get "realistic" bass you can feel in your body.

The JBL 308P is in the same price range, it gets good reviews and it has an 8-inch woofer (also rear ported). But, you still might need a subwoofer for "pro studio sound". That's NOT a personal recommendation. I have have not heard the JBL either so I have no idea how they compare.

are ofcourse less powerfull and with the port in the front. my desk is adjacent to the wall.
The port in front or back doesn't make much difference, and you'll never know unless you have the same exact speaker made both ways. It does need room to "breath". You don't want to block the port. It's probably OK if you space it away from the wall by at-least the port diameter.

The wavelengths are long at low frequencies (100 Hz has a wavelength of about 10 feet) so it matters very little where the port or woofer is, or which direction they are "pointing".

I'd argue that there's no reason to go smaller unless you just need the smaller form factor. As already mentioned, front port vs back port isn't that important. Front port is more likely to have audible port noise. The port only needs a little bit of clearance to worn properly, again as already noted roughly the same distance from the wall or other boundary as the diameter of the port.

Unless you are experiencing a specific issue, I wouldn't get hung up on it.

thanks. i forgot to write that i need specificly something that can stay on my pc desk, so a cabinet with an 8-inch woofer can't do
