Where are you getting CD rom variance of 9% from?

From the above thread about PC drives ripping at high speed. Which has nothing to do with realtime 1x CD players or transports. Seems to be making the extrapolation that since those drives have errors, then CD players have errors. So he wants to develop a list of percent ranking CD players. The problem is it will be list of everything being 100%.
