Hello everyone. I am not very knowledgeable about audio equipment so pardon me in advance. I am buying bit by bit things to build me a Home Theather to replace soundbar. On speakers it's been already decided.
The speakers in question are:
1) Pair of Oberon 3
2) Oberon Vokal
3) Pair of Oberon 1
4) Pair of Oberon On Wall
5) 2 pairs of Alteco C-1
If price is roughly the same (Yamaha is about 50 USD more), what would be the better pick for AVR with these speakers?
The way i figured, points for Denon: made in Japan, has Dirac, has 4 subwoofer outputs even though i dont think i will use more than 2, more compact size, has a good review on this forum.
Points for Yamaha: i really dont know tbh, but i've seen review from audioholics, seems well rated as well. It doesnt have Dirac, 2 subs are enough and it's bigger.
There is also an option to downgrade a bit and get x3800h, but currently it's not like i am paying a lot less (about 400 USD difference) and i am comfortable with x4800h price if it is indeed made using better platform with better components.
To power 2 more channels i plan to use inexpensive amp like Douk Audio A5, cant see the reason why it wont be enough to power, say, rear surrounds. If you think there is a problem please let me know.
Thank you. It's a bit overwhelming for me.

My vote is for the 4800 and the full Dirac tech tree (ART-capability coming late this year whether you need it or not). Yamaha is a great brand (saddened I've never owned one) but a bit short on the features list and the A6A is already 4 years old since release.

Even if you don't go for Dirac, the default Audyssey should trump YPAO all day!

What's "ART-capability"?
For whatever calibration there is - i have a person who can help me with additional REW tweaks.
Do you think Denon will have any probles driving all 7 channels with the speakers mentioned?

For the subwoofers? The subwoofer outputs aren't powered anyway. Normally the subwoofer is active/powered (it has an amplifier built-in) or you can use a passive sub with a separate amplifier.

More amplifiers & speakers don't give you more "channels".

Most AVRs have plenty of power for most home theaters. And with a big powered subwoofer you can "rattle the walls!"

ART is active room threatment it use all the speakers for base, for even base and output.
But with 2 or more good subs i think its not needed it also dont work well with high spl thx speakers.
They roll off arround 80hz like my Arendal monitors

No. The AVR are 9 channel amp with 11 channel processing.
So to get 7.2.4 i will need a separate stereo amp to power 2 speakers and power the rest with AVR.

I see.. okay. I still havent decide on subs, but i think it will be something from SVS or Rhythmic.

For $400 more (vs the X3800H) I would probably go with the X4800H too as it has a couple nice features, sound quality wise don't expect much difference if any.

I don't have any technical knowledge, but right now I've been working on a project for some time now, and it's been holding up the completion of my living room, and the work is way behind schedule. My friend Peng knows what I'm talking about. I already have a TV, but I'm missing the Monitor Audio Silver speakers, a 5.1 system. The Denon was supposed to be the 3800, but since they're not available in silver, I'm going to buy the 4800, just for the color.

I have the Oberon 1 and 3 in another room; they sound excellent to me, but I don't know about you, but I can't compare them to other brands and models.
Choose Denon and go for it! I've been in a similar situation to yours, and it doesn't justify the time and indecision we wasted.

Will you be able to test two or more amplifiers with your speakers? If that's not the case, buy the 4800 as suggested here. That is, if you don't want to spend tons of money that you'll probably never fully enjoy. Best regards
