I purchased a Denon DCD-1700ne SACD player just under 2 years ago. Right out of the box I noticed a smell from the unit when in use, hard to describe, not unpleasant and not super strong either but odd for sure. I assumed it was because it was new and that it was residue that would burn off, it never has though and after almost 2 years of light use it is still there.
The warranty is up in a few weeks so I am considering whether to get it looked at before the warranty is up. This is a hassle though as I have to box it up and send it back to the dealer (at my expense) who will then send it on to a Denon service center to look at. Why I cannot send it direct I do not know but apparently I cannot. If I could just drive it down to them I probably would have down it already.
The thing is the smell does not bother me at all and I cannot smell it from my listening position, the only reason I am thinking of sending it in is in case the smell is a sign of something more serious that might bite me after the warranty has expired. If I had confidence that it was not I would not give it a second thought. Also, I mostly listen to records so it really is very low mileage and a part of me is wondering if it may still wear off?
Anybody with the 1700ne or any other Denon CD player experienced this or similar?
Thanks
