It does at 60 Hz, not at 120 Hz.i thought the PS5 didn't use Dolby Vision or 12bit output. why does it not support 4:4:4 ?

Not exactly, HDMI can do anything between 8 and 16 bit colour and there are commercial displays from EIZO which will do 12 bit input and can be driven by a computer.Yeah but i thought 12bit is monopolised by Dolby Vision which the PS5 does not support (for games).
These formats are only for games consoles. Is Dolby Vision 12-Bit 120Hz actually rendered/authored in 4:4:4? I'm genuinely curious what "content" is available that is actually encoded to require a 48Gbps bitrate directly from the source file or render engine? I work in a huge broadcast hub with the highest-end production equipment, and even our uncompressed 4K 59.94 SDI/2110 is "only" 12Gbps (4x 3G SDI's bonded in 4 quads, or a 12Gbps 2110 stream over 100G fiber).
4:4:4 chroma is essential for computer text usage. It's fairly irrelevant in games or movies.Ah OK. I was never a gamer - so not surprised we don't encounter this stuff in the professional broadcast world.
On the subject of audio, I will say that the Silent Hill 2 Remake in Dolby Atmos on PS5 is one of the best surround sound experiences I've ever had...4:4:4 chroma is essential for computer text usage. It's fairly irrelevant in games or movies.

Chroma Subsampling: 4:4:4 vs 4:2:2 vs 4:2:0
What is Chroma Subsampling and where is this visible? Chroma subsampling is a type of compression that reduces the color information in a signal in favor of luminance data.www.rtings.com

Psychological horror, but yeah, if you don't like Resident Evil, then avoid.IIRC Silent Hill is a Horror, game, no?
Nothing for me then, as I get terrible nightmares from that stuff. For some reason my brain loves to go rogue with such data. ._.
Unless it's Zombies. Zombies are funny.
Games in general are often the best argument for surround sound, and games with horror elements in particular tend to make good use of the surround channels. Playing games like Resident Evil, Dead Space, Alien: Isolation, even something like Prey is greatly enhanced by the presence of the surrounds. Nevermind some of the best modern music often coming from game soundtracks. On the subject of audio, I will say that the Silent Hill 2 Remake in Dolby Atmos on PS5 is one of the best surround sound experiences I've ever had...
Doom Eternal is a festival of mayhem on Atmos settings. Stalker 2 also has a very nice ambiance. On the subject of audio, I will say that the Silent Hill 2 Remake in Dolby Atmos on PS5 is one of the best surround sound experiences I've ever had...
Nice! I've been meaning to check out Stalker.Doom Eternal is a festival of mayhem on Atmos settings. Stalker 2 also has a very nice ambiance.
The game basically has new patches daily, I'd wait a few months before startingNice! I've been meaning to check out Stalker.
She's just checking out the box. Apparently, when cats evolved in North Africa around 200,000 years ago, there were a lot of cardboard boxes around to hide and play in.Magic cat wondering with curiosity what's inside the x8500h that is so atmos special ?

Should we dispose of all D&M AVRs?
I'm just curious about this. Why would you dispose of a receiver just because the manufacturer went belly up?
