The device described in the page below is evidently Denon's fix for their current HDMI 2.1 implementation. Marantz has announced it is using the same device.

The fix provides the opportunity to turn your AVR into a two piece AVR partly powered by a wall wart. Impressive...

The next shoe to drop is the replacement IC for the AKM DAC IC's. Hopefully (a bad word) the new DAC IC, and the associated implementation, will offer at least equal performance to the AKM units.

Well not much interest in that tech myself, but what a workaround....

The main article doesn't even specify which Denon/Marantz AVRs were affected...

Affected Models:
Denon AVR-A110 Denon AVR-X6700H Denon AVR-X4700H Denon AVR-X3700H Denon AVR-X2700H Denon AVR-S960H Marantz AV7706 Marantz SR8015 Marantz SR7015 Marantz SR6015 Marantz SR5015 Marantz NR1711
From audioholics.com

Seems like a simple solution (for Denon/Marantz), since you won't have to ship AVRs back and forth for warranty...but will definitely look weird next to your AVR.

Those interested in receiving SPK618 will need to:
Step 1: Go to www.denon.com/hdmiadapter for Denon.
Or go to www.marantz.com/hdmiadapter for Marantz.
Step 2: Fill out the form with the required information starting on May 15th, 2021.

No thanks honestly. If I had one under warranty, it would be going back for replacement with a working unit, or a refund due to not having a product working as it should.

For anyone interested: a low-res image of the adapter

Does anybody know what the adapter actually does? What is the output mode when inputting a mode that results in error without the adapter?
