Denon AVR-X6800H now released.

If Crutchfield etc. only show MSRP, what is the typical US street price of the 6800 these days (new, from authorized dealers)?
Not typical but the 6800 was as low as $2299 from Denon just last month! It had to compete w/the RZ70 which was going for less than $1800 around the same time period.

As owner of both Marantz AV10 and Denon 6700, understand the considerations.

Without expecting higher performance on Marantz, their units have different design that might appeal to some. I had little trouble choosing AV10 as wanted 15 ch rig. Street price for Denon A1H that would be comparable was actually higher. No need for amps in my use case so was a no brainer.

Value is definitively on Denon side, but if someone is placing higher weighting on more modern design, or wants AVP, and willing to pay for it, Marantz could be the right ticket.

In NL (EU) Cinema 30 € 4600 and X6800h € 2500 as we speak. So also still a big difference. Only difference is amplifiers and power supply as the ‘back ends’ (DAC-board, HDMI-board, HEOS-module) are similar. Bought my 6800 over one year ago for around € 1600 in Black Friday sale. Never hit that price again and was for one day only… With F/R/C and surrounds driven by Marantz’ MM 7025 and 7055, also bought during sale or 2nd hand, I’m paying less than a 2nd chance Cinema 30. Now with full Dirac installed (also Black Friday deals) I can say this is still a lot of money but worth every €.

I think the amps are the same iirc but can double check, the power supply is different.

Edit: Checked, the power amps are the same, in fact even the X4800H uses the same amp modules (physically layouts obvious will be different, the C30's being better) based on info on schematics, but the X4800H's voltages are slightly different all various point, while the C30 and X6800H really are the same, including the voltages on the schematics. In the past the 3800/4800 share the same power amps, now the 6800/4800/C30/C40 share the same, basically the 4800 got "upgraded", though practically speaking any difference/improvements won't be significant at all.

That's a great deal (assuming new, not refurbished). There were flash sales (from authorized dealers) back when it launched for around that price.

That is very interesting, so in EU countries the price premium for the C30 is huge, yet for the C40/C50, and the so called "dressed up" X4800H/X3800H, the list price premiums are usually around €200 - 250, much more acceptable, even a good deal to some extent. That's based on list prices, dealer discounts will vary and may increase the gaps.

Come to think of it, the Cinema 30 does offer more differences than the case of C40 vs X4800H that are closer to non identical twins:

C30's additional costly items:

- Much better physical layout, more copper shielding better/bigger heatsinks
- Toroidal (this one is more marketing than..), but definitely stronger power transformer.
- Bigger block capacitors.
- Much larger enclosure, to house the larger PS
- Upgraded HDAMs (personally, imo they are a waste but they do justify the increase costs).
- Add dac filter option .

Whether all these explained the €1000 premium vs the €200 for the C40/50 vs X4800H/X3800H, I am not sure but there is something substantial there.

Since you are using external amps, and got a good deal on the X6800H, I think you did great.:) As pre/pro/dac, I see no reason for the C30 to be superior unless you are the subjective type and prone to biases of different kinds, or have exceptional hearing that may apreciate one of the two dac filters more.

For those of you using fans, how are you turning them on and off automatically with the receiver?

Seems the 5V/1.5A USB-A power jack on the rear of the 6800 is not sufficient to power one of these fans, which require 12V. And I'm not sure it's switched (i.e., turns on and off with the receiver) anyway.
I read the tracking wrong, it was one more Tuesday. I got an Aircom T9, the default on temp is 85f and the fan turns back off 4f lower. You can change that but it works for me. I set fan speed to low and I’ve been listening to music loudly since noon today. I have a 4800 and it’s a preamp and the T9 has sat fan on low and temp at 82 or 83f all day. When I listened during the week at lower levels it sat at 84f and the fan never came on. You can turn the screen off, which I’ll do. It’s nice, I like it a lot and it’s quiet up close on low which is all I need and I’m not up close to it. Easy on all the equipment overkill, just the way I like it.
