Hi all,
I am a recent owner of Arendal 1961 Monitors and 1961 Center (all 4 Ohm nominal), and I am in the process of selecting my AVR and subwoofer. Later, I will continue with surround speakers and two Atmos for the rear height effects. My living room is not very large (the main listening area is around 3m x 4m) and I do not plan to regularly crank up the volume a lot (although I live on the first floor so no neighbors below and no neighbors closest to the listening area). I would only crank up the volume a bit when listening to music/playing some video game or watching a movie with many sound effects etc. After some research and considering my budget constraints, I concluded that Denon X3800H might be a good choice for me, along with a XTZ spirit 12. My question is the following: could I go further in reducing my budget, perhaps going with a Denon X2800H which offers less channels (but these are the most I would have anyway) and a bit less power? Considering my irregular room, although the front left, right and center speakers along with the SW are symmetrically placed (around the TV and towards the listening position) the two surround speakers as well as the Atmos speakers would be placed assymetrically to the listening position due to room constraints. Given that, how much would I loose if I opted for X2800H which has Audyssey XT (not 32) and would not support Dirac Live? As an exercise and in order to learn more, could I use some manual EQ using for example REW with a raspberry pi to collect the measurments and perform manual calibration then on my desktop PC in order to use manual EQ mode on the AVR? Would I achieve equal , better or worse results than Audyssey?
