Denon AVR-X1800H and KEF R7 Meta Speakers

Hello, I am able to pull the trigger on KEF R7 Meta speakers. I have a Denon AVR-X1800H.

I will never play the music that loudly.

My question: is the Denon AVR-X1800H a real bad receiver for the KEF R7 Meta speakers and will I be wasting my money with it? Should I also get a different receiver?

Also, if it is really important that I get a different receiver, can you make a recommendation. However, I'd really like to keep the receiver I have unless its going to prevent the KEF speakers from truly shining.

As far as doubting the 1800, got any particular references? Usually the complaints of 2ch integrated amps don't make a lot of sense compared to the feature set of the 1800.....

No, I didn't read any complaints about the 1800. But a few months ago I posted to ASR that I was considering the KEF R7 Meta speakers and someone replied that "Nothing really wrong with your Denon but speakers in that price range deserve better and will likely need more power than 80 wpc to perform at their best, IMO". So I just wanted to see what others thought.

That's only true if you really want to turn it up. Which you don't as you say.

The Denon X1800H is no mini-amp. I think you will be fine.

Many people say things like that without thinking of the particular use involved (you indicate listening levels are fine for you). A speaker might get louder with more power, but "best"? Meh. I was thinking you had pre-outs for an amp on that Denon but I think I'm thinking of the 2800. I do prefer having a full set of pre-outs on my avrs, tho.

Very interesting. I actually do have pre-outs on my 1800! What would be a good amp for my KEF speakers? If I did go with the pre-outs/amp solution, all my volume adjustments (apple tv via arc hdmi on the 1800) would still work to control the volume, right?

I was just looking and it only had subwoofer pre-outs (which aren't full range). Did I miss something?

That's what I was thinking it had but when I looked at an image of the rear panel of the X-1800H it only had subwoofer preouts. Slight model difference or where sold?

Crutchfield was the seller and I think the 1800 was recently revamped.

My couch is about 8 feet away from the speakers and i would never play music very loud. I am a soft - moderate level listener.

Seriously doubt an amp will change anything for you in that case. Enjoy.

1800 goes plenty loud with "normal" speakers, no need to worry.
