Not sure why they publish that cause it's not true, not according to other sources. Call up Anthem if it bothers you. I did. 905-564-1994. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-N36YEOF1EKN/p_973MRX1140/Anthem-MRX-1140.html
Can't believe you doubt Anthem's own specs published on their own website, but hey you might still be right. However, you can also read some bench measurements as you seem to have done so anyway:
Anthem MRX 740 & 1140 AV Receivers Comparison Bench Test Results!
In this bench test report of the Anthem MRX 740 & 1140 AV receivers, preamp & amplifier performance is evaluated and compared. We cover Bass management and amplifier matrixing performance recommendations.
Anthem MRX740 & MRX 1140 Power Measurements Summary
5 channel driven, 85 W 8 ohms. You do get a lot more on the dynamic test as they all do, not just Anthem, but that is of very short duration (ms, not s) obviously.
You have to sit close to your surrounds, eh? Interesting....... If you ran ARC it would not only automatically measure distances for all speakers to the MLP but adjust SPL levels. For example, my back surrounds sit about 5' behind us and ARC kicked them up 2.5 dB and 3 dB respectively. 4 heights are boosted anywhere from 5 to 7 dB depending on where they sit. No external power amp needed as the AVR is known for having great headroom and my subs carry bass on all speakers with fronts set to 60 Hz, 4th order slope, 4 heights crossed over at 80 Hz and 110 Hz as an example.
Not sure why it's interesting to you, its my room not yours, if you have a larger room good for you, mine is just 13X20X8 so yeah my surrounds are nearer to me than my right row like a lot of other people's. Distance is of course not the only thing that affects SPL but it is a factor, doubling distance could reduce spl by 6 dB, but I guess you know that well lol..
As I said, I didn't mind lower surround output from the Anthem AVRs so no need to convince me.
Whatever, enjoy your Denon.
Not relevant to me now, I have had my fair share of Denon and Marantz AVRs, AVPs. I would definitely wish Denon owners to enjoy theirs so thanks anyway. I am also quite sure most MRX1140 owners enjoy theirs. Those who have the fan noise issue could fix that easily.
