Denon AVC-X2850H - Found on Denon’s website

For 5 seconds I thought they really issued a denim clad AVR :)

@topic: looks decent, no Dirac option though, seemingly.

New features:

- HDMI Pure CTS Generator: Clock jitter reducer technology
- Channel Level Monitoring
- Latest built-in HEOS multiroom (incl. internet radio)
- 2-way Bluetooth with volume control, the receiver can also play music to a pair of wireless headphones.

- Still no front pre-outs!

Sound and features upgraded

The AVC-X2850H is very reminiscent of the more affordable AVR-X2800H, but it is upgraded on several points. The radio part now works exclusively via the Internet, which is quite enough for most users. In return, you get a better sound quality via HDMI Pure CTS Generator that eliminates timing errors in the digital audio signal. This is a new version of the Clock Jitter Reducer technology found in Denon’s more exclusive receivers.

You also get the latest HEOS module, and the built-in 2-way Bluetooth feature now has audio control directly via the receiver. Finally, Denon has made a smart visualization of multi-channel audio so you can follow the individual sound level of the channels live on your TV screen

It’s advertised as 150 watts per channel. I’d get it for the power headroom alone.

But here’s what the manual says in the Appendix → Specifications → Audio section:

95 W + 95 W (8 Ω/ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.)
125 W + 125 W (6 Ω/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.)

???

This announcement leads me to assume Denon will introduce an AVR-X2850H for North America.

I wonder if it will include front pre-out jacks like the AVR-X1800H ?

My guess is that this came out to compete with Sony TA-AN1000, since it has gotten some good reviews.

Looks like Denon marketing snagged another one. That 150W rating is for one channel driven at 6 ohms at 1% THD. The power output seems identical to the 2800, making the 2850 moniker apt for the minor improvements.

From the specs of the 2800 at zkelectronics:

Well .. Denon’s »Made in Japan« threshold seems to be AVC-X4* or higher. I’d keep that in mind definitely.

Please elaborate this, what does it mean?

I don´t know man. Does not sound hugely beneficial. If/when Denon US adds this model on site we should get introduction video at Masimo youtube channel. Best information on those clips.

Channel levels, visualized Channel Level Monitoring displays real-time speaker output levels right on your TV—perfect for
learning more about your system or content or showing off your setup.

The X1800H (NA version) is still the sweet spot because it has LR preouts, the 2800 and 2850 has none.

I think the AVC version of the X1800H also didn’t have pre-outs. It seems the AVR-X2850H hasn’t been announced yet, but there’s still the possibility it will have them.

In any case I never really understood what the X2000 series does to demand a premium over the X1000 series, a mild power bump doesn’t mean much. Save your money or go all the way up to the much better X3000 series.

Not just no DIRAC, but the much less powerful version of Audyssey. These Denon receivers represent huge value for consumers, but I wouldn’t go below the 3X00 series.

How is anyone buying anything that doesn't have Audyssey XT32 or Dirac Live at a bare minimum? I wouldn't even consider an AVR without one or the other as a baseline.

A used x3300w from almost a decade ago comes with XT32 and pre-outs for all channels and tramples all of the value options you can buy new today.
