Denon 2023 range X3900H/X4900H/X6800H announcement....!!??

And of course I’m seeing this just outside the return window on my 3800 <sigh>.

EDIT: I had seen something suggesting they increased the uF of the main caps (which IMHO would have been worth the extra $100) but cant find that reference now. Only thing I can find on that subject now is mention of "...the power supply filtering capacitors (anode foil and sleeve) have been redesigned (whatever that means).
There isn't an actual capacitor rating mentioned but my favorite Taiwanese site had this to say about the 3900 (translated to English by Google):

"The power supply section has also been upgraded, and its block capacitors directly adopt the high-end specifications of the flagship AVC-A1H, including the same foil and electrolyte materials, with repeated fine-tuning of the tensile strength and winding tension of the inner foil. This design, which does not use fixatives, makes the power supply cleaner and more stable, providing a more solid power foundation for the entire amplifier, and allowing this mid-range model to exhibit a sound closer to that of high-end models."

They are probably still from ELNA and the rating for Cinema 50 (S1) caps is 2x 12,000μF 71V. The Japan made Cinema 40 has 2x 15,000μF 71V just like Denon X4800H.

I was in contact with Marantz and Denon about this and only Marantz replied;

" The upgrade is in the capacitors' materials and construction rather than their rating.

As described in the press material you quoted, the new capacitors were developed based on our flagship models, including the foil and electrolyte materials and the winding tension. These were fine-tuned through listening evaluations by our Sound Master team.

We don't publish further component details, such as capacitor suppliers or internal measurements, beyond what's in the product specifications and owner's manual. "

Not a surprise since the marketing speak from Marantz is just about identical to what I referenced from the Taiwanese site. In other words, they basically confirmed the capacitor rating is identical to the prior generation and the difference is in how they "wrap the coils and use a different type of foil". They might as well say their binding posts are set differently too while they're at it! LOL!

I don't know if I could ever buy a Marantz product now just on principle alone since it's such a snake oil company (this is even if the pricing dropped to reasonable levels like in some parts of the world).

Their marketing team has some talented members, think HDAM, DAC filters, gold plated RCA connectors, now block cap's material, constructions, all fine tuned by their "sound master". Surely Denon benefited from some of those except HDAM and gold, but fine tuned by a different sound master, who determined the final sound signature, punchy, neutral, accurate versus warm, sweet, smooth, musical...blablabla, they must be pleased that so many of their fans hear and confirmed their golden ears equipped sound masters are the best, beating their non D+M competitors who apparently could not afford to hire/use sound masters and have to rely on the lowly designers, engineers, and bench measurements only....:D
