Not sure what the input sensitivity is set to. I will check when I get home from work. Should it be set to .775 or 1.4?
What i meant by max volume on the AVR means I had the volume turned up as high as it would go. After setting the AVR volume like this I set the Crowns level to where it would just barely clip when listening to music.
I ran Audyssey after this and my main speaker levels came back at -11.
I usually just set clipping to be just flickering at the max volume I'd ever use (a bit above reference level), which is less than the max on the avr. For the results I was thinking you set it at .775 V but....

Where are the gain knobs set on the Crown? How do you have such set for subs? Same amp?

I have 2 pb1000. The gain was set for these results.
The Cown inputs are set at 7-7.5.
I re-ran Audyssey and these were my results.

Should I set the input knobs on the Crown amp like I set my subwoofers?
So Audyssey shows -11 on the levels?

Once you selected 1.4V, the means with 1.4v input voltage, the amp will deliver its rated output into 8 ohm.

Then you can try setting the gain knobs to maximum. You will then use the avr to control the volume.

The knobs on the Crown amps are not intended for volume control.

No particular relation between the gain dial numbering on the crown and sub amps. Is this latest with sensitivity setting at 1.4V?

What I meant to ask is should I set the knobs on the Crown to show -11 on my AVR after running Audyssey?

No, whatever Audyssey set the trim level to, as long as it is close to 0, say +/- 5, leave it along. If it set the trims to as much as -11 or +10 then let us know and we'll see what needs to be checked.

PS When you say "to show -11 on your AVR you mean the level trim settings right?

Tha's why I suggested 1.4 V, that minimized hiss. Leave the knob at maximum, those Crown amps are not too quiet.

What' the volume of the avr at when you heard hiss?

So the new update changed max to -15 now too ? Looks like you could turn the gain down on the Crown, tho.

I turned the knobs down 3-4 clicks on the Crown and got this;
-11.3
-11.9

Looks like you don't need a high gain setting on the amp (or change of sensitivity) to get good results!

It looks to me your front left/right speakers have high sensitivity so yes you should turn the know down until the trim levels are set to below 10 dB. I actually thought Denon's minimum trim level is -12 but I must have remembered wrong.

Definitely leave the input sensitivity selector switch to 1.4 V, 0.775 V will be too high for the Crown amp.

I have Forte 2. 99db
The Denon will only show down to -12 on the AVR display.
I am using Multeq-x on my pc and it will show lower on the pc if you go past -12.
I will set the Crown so it shows -10 on the AVR and do a full calibration..
Thank you for your advice.
How many calibration spots do you usually do?
Have you used Multeq-x?
Any tips?
