Deciding if I should go with EVE Audio SC2070 or Genelec 8030c for mixing.

I know the Eve has a more complete sound and I’m leaning towards that. To give you some background information, I’m using Yamaha HS5s at the moment and I feel like they are decent but lack low end and it’s a little hard for me to judge that when I’m mixing and lows translate a little too hot. I’m curious if you any of you have tried Eve and compared it to Genelec and which one you prefer more. They both seem to have a really flat response from what I have looked at. Anyways, some feedback from audio nerds I feel would give me a broader perspective on this. Thanks

The Eve seems to be QC prone. How much are you getting either?

I don't know but as long as your monitors don't have any gross defects or limitations the important thing is that you learn want a good mix sounds like on them. You can also measure and EQ them if necessary (or if it helps).

Of course, acoustics make a difference too.

And since both of those have "small" woofers you'll probably need a subwoofer for strong "realistic" bass. Or some people use headphones to check the bass and that also eliminates acoustic problems (which are usually in the bass range). But you'll also have to learn how the headphones sound on a good mix. But don't rely on the headphones for the overall sound... All of the pros say not to use headphones as your main monitors for mixing or mastering.

I’ll not be needing a sub for the EVEs. Not sure if you checked but they go down to 38hz at -3db and it’s clean distortion free bass. That’s more than enough bass for me to mix with and make decisions.

so you answered your own question. the Genelec wont do that.
personally I would rather go with a subwoofer and pair it with the Yamaha and DRC everything. but that requires knowledge to set everything up

Subwoofers are not really my thing honestly. I’d rather just use a speaker system that has enough low end for my tasks.

A 6.5‑inch woofer won't be producing 35Hz accurately, though. It's produced by the big port that lags behind. You'd better save money for a 10" woofer.
or, as was suggested, mix the very low end (only) via headphones/

You're losing important performance being subwoofer skeptical

I don’t have the space or money for a speaker thats 10”. A 7” or maybe even a 8” woofer is enough for my tasks and what I need to hear for my mixes. Also yeah I do use Headphones as a reference.

I’m not being “skeptical” and you’re probably right about that, but I can’t bother to have a sub in my room not ideal for me
