DBX NX-40 Setup

That’s really interesting. I don’t really know the ‘lore’ as my kids would say, but it sounds like the offer was made to make DBX the default, but that would have required changing how all records were encoded. Some marketing group decided the shiny disk was the way to go and so dbx became an evolutionary cult de sac. I’d really like to hear others’ review of these disks.

Not exactly. While RIAA works on frequency level while root core of dbx Type II processing is working on dynamics (compression/expansion). So you cannot just modify riaa curve to mimic what dbx type II does.
