Hello again, I purchased the Dayton HTA100BT sold by Parts Express several years ago. This model has since been replaced by the HTA100 that was glowingly reviewed by The Audiophiliac on YT. Not to open up a hot button issue but it seems many of these Chinese amps are not really class AB hybrids and tubes supply little to the sound. I do know after replacing tubes if one tube is not seated properly the amp only uses one channel. I think it sounds pretty good after playing for about 20 minutes. I do hear a hum when I turn the amp on emanating from the chassis, I’m thinking that is the transformer which is probably a cheap design. Is my amp a decent design, real AB? I have seen the Rockville/Monoprice amps at bargain basement prices and apparently these are the cosmetic versions.

I believe the HTA100BT is "Utilizing a solid-state class AB amp and a tube preamp".

What does "real AB" mean?
