Is audio player support for CDs ripped to a .cue file with a single large .wav/.flac containing all audio tracks common? The player should work much like foobar2000, in that skipping to the next track would effectively seek in the WAV file.

Why would somebody do that?

I prefer to split large audio files and tag them correctly using MusicBrainz Picard.

Plus, I have several albums that combine stereo mixes and mono mixes on a single CD.
But I only listen to the stereo mixes.
Or albums that include bonus tracks, but I don't listen to the bonus tracks.
So a single large audio file just wastes space.

Occasionally an album actually is one long track, otherwise I think it's a workaround to ensure gapless playback?
Indeed. In the past a lot of DLNA servers didn't support gapless playback. Very annoying in case of classical or live albums. The downside of CUE is its limited tagging support.
You also create a dependency. If anything changes in the audio file e.g name or folder you have to apply this change to the Cue as well

I would personally considering using a program like XLD (foobar2000 probably can do it as well) to split those FLAC files back to the individual tracks to allow for better device compatibility.
