Dali speakers

Do you think the dali rubicon 2 are still good value , nice things are being said about them but they are listed on various websites for £500 and nobody is buying, been up for sale for months
Wow - where are you seeing that? I'm not seeing less than £1000.

Good point. I think the rubycon came out in 2014. Yikes ! Epicore look pricey

dali is releasing the epikore line and some of the other lines are over 10 years old so to move the old inventory and make room for the new.
Oh yes, a new speaker cone design, and they also have a "Rubikore" as well...pretty sexy looking:

Looks like these are indeed available in Tokyo (Dali is quite popular here, maybe the Menuet helped).

I'm fortunate enough to live close to what looks to be Dali's #1 USA dealer 'Simply Stereo" had the first 'Kore' speaker to reach the USA around 2 years ago, then got the Epikore 11 and since have been getting the new speakers that Dali is promoting on their website. I'm home in bed with a lower leg injury or I'd be bringing some of these speakers home to hear which sounds best and how they compare in my room.

Does anyone have an educated opinion on how much power Dali speakers need to really perform at their best?

I have a 7.2.6 home theater system consisting of all Dali speakers. Rubicon 5 as fronts, Opticon Vokal mk2 as center, Menuet as surrounds and back surrounds and Alteco C-1 as heights. They are all powered by a Denon X6700H, except the LCRs which are powered by two XTZ Edge A2-300 just because I need the external amplification to run all 13 channels.

Now, I'm wondering whether adding more external amplification to power the rest of the speakers would be worth it or not. Say one or two Hypex NC252 multi channel amplifiers. The speakers' specs suggest that they don't require much power (recommended maximum power is 150 W for the Rubicon 5's and 100 W for the rest), but they aren't very sensitive (86 dB, except the Alteco C-1 which are 83 dB) and all of them are rated at 4 Ohm except the Alteco C-1s which are rated at 6 Ohm.

I usually listen at -20 dB on the AVR volume scale when playing movies, the speakers are crossed over to the subwoofers, I sit about 7,6 feet from the front stage (the closest speakers) and about 12 feet from the back surrounds (the farthest speakers). I haven't had any issues with the Denon going into protection or anything, but I can't help but wondering whether more power would yield any positive audible differences. I've heard some reviewers say that Dali speakers don't require much power to sing, while other have said the opposite. I've also heard that Dali themselves prefer to pair their speakers with class D amps when showcasing them, and some reviewers seem to agree that that sounds best.

This is a far more complex issue than power requirements for speakers. Dalis have variable sensitivity, but usually moderate to moderately high. Of course you want to make sure that your speakers are adequately power, however, I couldn't imagine working such a complex system without some kind of calibrated room correction (Dirac Live, etc.).

The Dali Rubicon 2s are great. Ive had the R300, Dynaudio x18, Wharfedales, B&Ws, also able to borrow ATC scm11. Personally still prefer the Rubicon 2 over all the speakers ive heard so far. very underrated brand outside of the EU. I really believe they are on to something with their SMC technology being much lower in distortion than other brands (i think there are measurements in their whitepaper https://media-dali.azureedge.net/1673/rubicon-whitepaper.pdf). If you listened to the R300 and Rubicon 2 side by side, the Kefs sounds much slower and compressed compared to the Dali. Like the woofers start & stop instantaneously --- I believe this gives them that rhythmic & engaging sound.

They are tuned for wide dispersion and is meant to be listened to wthout toe in. Maybe that is why others may perceive them as non neutral. But in the listening position, they are designed to be neutral. Alpha Audio has measurements of the RUbicon 2 along with their distortion levels, it measures best out of all speakers including ATC SCM11, Dyn x18, B&W 705s2, Monitor Audio Gold : https://www.alpha-audio.nl/review/multitest-monitor-luidsprekers-1400-2200-euro/4/
i know this is an old thread, but i was wondering if you still had them. i can buy them at a good price but im worried the bass might be too much in my smallish room ..

Erin from Erin's Audio Corner reviewed the Rubikore 6.
There's also Dali Rubikore 2 data and thoughts which were posted on his Patreon.
Seems that they're both boosted on the top end (the Rubikore 6 only until like 10 KHz where it drops off a cliff).

It has to be mentioned they were tested with the grills off. Dalis always sound too bright with them off thats a known fact.

Like most Dali, especially if you listen them on axis, as they are tuned to be more neutral when not toed in.
That's fine with the Rubikore 2, but the Rubikore 6 still drops off a cliff past 10 KHz (4m14s)... Maybe this speaker is for older audiophiles.

That measurement is weird as if you see the full spin at 4:32 it doesn't:

I would guess the wrong vertical axle was used for the first one,
