Hi all it's my first post on this forum i'm very happy to joined, i have question. For week or two i'm looking for dac to electronic music. On my language forum they recommend me rme adi 2 dac fs, but not explicit. I have money for this dac but i'm thinking about something better, newer. I meet opinion, that this dac is too slowly for electronic music. I dont wanna buy two times i have 1000 $ or euros for this pucharse please advise me something.
I have bd 700 pro x and want buy yamaha hs8 + hs8s to pair with - new headphones i wanna buy nearly but with those monitors i wanna play sometime with. Generally i'm asking about new system but exactly for edm/electronic.
Regards

RME is great but you don't need that much features for just listening to music. I think you've misunderstood, RME is way above most things.
"Slow" is not a feature of any dac, it's not possible so just disregard those comments.

How about reading through some dac/amp reviews here? You'll find plenty of options.

Edit: And welcome aboard. We have lots of resources and conversations for you. :)

I must always compare between rme adi2, and not so many experience with audio to tell me something more than numbers and fleeting opinions, that why i ask directly. I always back to topping because i know this product list, and on my language forum some mans told me that sound is artificial, and "glassy" so i forsake, and looking product of another signature(?) but what this is the question.

You can use any well-engineered DAC/amp. Buy based on features and your budget. Personally, I'd get a cheap-ish DAC/amp and spend the rest on better headphones. A more expensive DAC/amp is not going to make your sound any better, but more money can get you a headphone that will.

That is nonsense. Human hearing is imaginative, and discussions about the alleged sound signature of DACs are full of technically illiterate people discussing imaginary differences.

If it's within your budget, I'd just buy the RME. But if you don't need its features, you can certainly save a lot of money.

This rme match to those monitors too, that because i became intrested. But if you talking, that dac can't be slowly so i can buy it without worries

Ok.

This is bullshit. Both the Topping as the RME DACs are transparent which means they sound identical.

Get the RME if you need its unique features, or a cheaper one otherwise to be able to invest more where it counts (speakers, headphones).

The only way a DAC can be "too slow" is when you're using it for music production, and the drivers are shit so you get high latency. That isn't the case with RME DACs either, infact their drivers and whole system implementation are excellent.

In terms of sound, there's no such thing as "slow" or "fast" when it comes to DACs.

Sure. It's a bit more than you need but absolutely quality piece of equipment that will serve you many years. And if you sell it there will be buyers.

@VonV3in what do you want to do with it? Electronic music... Where are the sub's? Headphone output can determine a lot. ADI 2 FS first gen will cover (almost) any but it's only stereo. Audio interfaces usually suffer regarding headphone out in many ways.
Edit: where are you from (country)?

Hello, Welcome to ASR!

Have you looked at the ASR Review Index?

You can go to that, then select "electronics", and search for DAC. Within that you can select "recommended." One variable is your current and future headphone impedance. Some DACs are better at more demanding headphone impedance. Then you can read the review on ASR.

You can go to Review Index and select "headphones." That has data on good headphones, impedance, "recommended," and price.

Buy the DAC in your price range that can drive your headphones that is "recommended."

The RME is top of line, with long term vendor support, and strong hardware reliability. It has a nice display and a great software interface on a laptop or desktop. I have it from reading ASR and buying open-box on ebay from a reputable supplier with a return option. There are many other more economical DACs in the ASR Review Index.

I've always been baffled as to what some reviewers were talking about when they start rambling about 'timing' of audio equipment.
Essentially, these people think they can hear crystal clock variations.

Meh, think most of them are more about selling something. Maybe some true audiophilia soldiers in there, but that's not much help either.

Yamaha HS7 + HS8S user here :) Those speakers sound ridicolously good with EDM. Can't get enough headbanging with Infected Mushroom and twentyonepilots

One caveat though is that the Yamaha are sensitive to 4G LTE / 5G radios so keep your phones away or you'll hear crackling

Around here:
RME ADI-2 DAC FS = 1129€
2x Yamaha HS8 + HS8S = 2x 279€ + 549€ = 1107€

The RME is a great unit with some unique features, no doubt, but spending more on your DAC/HPA than your prospective speaker setup seems like poor budget allocation at this point. You could easily run this setup on an Audient iD4 (143€) if need be, or an SMSL DL100 ($179). Or get a basic audio interface or balanced DAC to run the speakers and recruit your onboard audio + a Topping L30 II ($139) for headphone driving duties, so you have two different audio devices - that makes it much easier to apply EQ to both speakers and headphones.

For example, while the Yamaha set proposed seems fine, a set of 2x Kali IN-8 v2 + a Kali WS12 v2 would be 1599€ instead and I bet would have a good bit more oomph if nothing else. That should still leave more than enough budget for a decent DAC/HPA or audio interface or two. And we haven't even talked about acoustic treatment yet. Cheaping out on electronics is a lot easier than cheaping out on acoustics!

You could also more than blow your budget on a set of Neumann KH120 II + MA-1 + KH750 DSP = 3138€. Now that would be a setup worthy of pairing with an ADI-2 DAC FS.
