My SMSL DAC is also my preamp. Currently, I connect SMSL by 0.5m XLR cable to Audiophonics poweramp and simultaneous 3m RCA out to my (ancient) Wharfedale SW150 sub. I balanced the subs gain and crossover using Spectroid app and USB DA MM6 mic for measurements. Speakers are (new to me), Arandel 1723 Monitors THX. They appear to measure solidly down to 70Hz. Comfortably playing down to about 50Hz (-7dB) before dropping away further. Warfedale sub no longer as helpful.
I'm looking out for used SVS PB 1000 Pro sub. This can take full range RCA output from SMSL filter to crossover and return remainder frequencies to poweramp. The RCA cables run 3m in each direction along skirting with several power cables.
Would I it be "better" to continue to use my current set-up approach or to take advantage to the SVS filtering? Using SVS filtering relies on 3m RCA in each direction. More than happy to try to use Spectroid or Audiotool with my MM6 mic to set gain and crossover.
Lack experience and flummoxed by over-reading / overthinking. Refusing to ask AI.
