Hey I wanted to thankyou again for bringing this amp to everyones attention. My build definitely benefited from the incremental improvements from user feedback and suggestions., so I thank all for that. I really like that I was able to customize my build, I really dont think I could ask for much more.
Ya I even bought a new battery for my bathroom scale that had been dead for a couple years lol. I shuffled things around in my stand a little bit. I had all wiring in place, I just needed a my Cymax amp. So when I got the amp, I was focused solely on install. I may weigh it yet, its not that hard to take out. I just went by the specs the Cymax weighs 14kg or about 31lbs. Mine has the 410mm chasis instead of 368mm chasis and with the full copper shields/divider I figured another 3 or 4 lbs, but maybe you are right at 40lbs. Its got some heft (thankfully not my 89lb mono amp heft), but still quite manageable. Its nice when you can plug cables into a component and it isnt moving because it is so light.
In some ways I wish I had kept my Classe CA-M600 monos to compare. It wasnt that I was unhappy with the CA-M600 in the least, I loved them. I just moved alot of my gear lately that I wasnt using or was kind of unnecessay or overkil. My Classe amps were great, but could I live without such beasts. The differences between the Classe and the Cymax would be subtle at best under my useage. Maybe under extreme volume use or some crazy hard to drive speakers there might be a more noticable difference. Another thing too I thought well maybe nobody will want to buy my Classe monos. Maybe I will just have to keep my monos, oh know poor me lol. Well it didnt take long to sell my monos. The guy that bought them is driving some huge monster hard to drive speakers, well the Classe monos dont break a sweat.
I really like the Cymax 9040. Like you are saying it is so smooth. I think we both mean smooth in the way its not a smoothed over the details smooth. Its smooth at least for me as in an effortless, no glare, natural kinda smooth without missing any details. I find voices to sound good and instruments like piano sound right. I have been listening to alot of music. there was something I was listening to (cant remember what it was now) but what struck me at the time is there is a certain warmth to that, it sounds correct or lifelike. The Purifi 9040 isnt your dads old class D or the one you heard 20 or 25 years ago. Listening to some music right now there some vocal piano playing, the piano had the lifelike natural weight to it...it sounded like a piano and not some kind of digital piano. I just wanted to add, I also said the Cymax was maybe warm to the touch after about 20 hrs. After 2 days it isnt any warmer...its barely warm to the touch.
I know some are probably saying sure hes raving about his new toy, wait until the honeymoon is over. I have had a couple other class D and AB amps. My Classe CA-M600 are excellent amps period and they came with a fairly large price tag, although you can spend a small fortune on amps. Sorry, I am listening to music now...I thought wow thats sounds good, so CLEAN. Anyways I still think the Classe monos are an excelent amp in build and looks for people that know the value of a dollar. Getting back to the Cymax, the Purifi 9040 is a wonderful module, but the Cymax Purifi 9040 is a really nice solid quality build. I am so happy I bought the Cymax. One more thing I wanted to say. Here I am raving about the Cymax 9040, I paid in CAD dollars (ouch) lol. If you are American, that means I paid about 50% more than you...which make the Cymax an even bigger value for you. I cant say enough good things about the Cymax, its the real deal. If you are thinking about buying one, dont worry just buy it. Sure you can get cheaper, but by like a $100 or not even, but the Cymax build is so much better. The bare bare bones Cymax probably is the cheapest, I did add a few things and I am glad I did. I better quit before I get the nickname fanboy.
