Ok, where to even begin. I just upgraded my main speakers from Klipsch Rp8000fii to rf7iii. My current subwoofers are 2 rsl 10s speedwoofers. The subs sounded good with the Rps but now that the rf7s are here and each of them have 2 10 inch speakers it doesnt sound like the 10 inch subs dig deep enough. Plus, I dont like the idea of having 6 -10" speakers. So I ordered the monoprice monolith ultra 13. I've heard 2 subs are better than 1 but I think I'm done upgrading. I have a feeling my wife will be at her wits end w my addiction when this sub shows up. Im 80% tv and 20% music. I have a onkyo rz50 avr. I've used the dirac room correction with my first set up. It does help but it did tame my subwoofer more than I like. My fix was to keep my gain low when I use dirac then when I'm done I crank the gain. Sounded much better to me. What I cant seem to wrap my head around is the crossover settings. To the best I can understand highpass filters can remove the lower frequencies and the low pass filters remove the high frequencies. But how do I know where to set each filter and what is the overlap to make them smooth I guess is the best word I can come up with. I feel like to my ears 60hz sounds best w my rf7s by the way I'm using a parasound 2520v2 amp on those. 275w x 2. I haven't received the new sub yet. It's supposed to be here in 2 days. On the back of the sub I take it thst I turn it to lfe so the avr does all the crossover work but what do I do on the avr. Do I set it to lfe or 120 or 90. I just don't understand it. I like bass but I also want it smooth. I've never has a sub that is 2000 watts rms so Im thinking I better figure out a way to tame it fast. Happy wife happy life and all that. Thanks for the help.

Hi @DanS.ohio78! Welcome to ASR.

Smooth crossover response between mains and sub can be achieved at any given crossover frequency, so long as the crossover slopes are right.

Crossover frequencies much higher than 80Hz are generally not recommended as the subs become localizeable by sound.

But going lower is usually possible so long as your Mains can keep up.

BTW, your AVR supports DLBC which will automatically integrate your subs for you: https://www.dirac.com/online-store/onkyo-tx-rz50

Thank you i have tried setting my speakers above 80hz. I'll look into that bass management. Thank you.
