Ya, as close to the front wall as I can make them actually (hoping the 3/4 wavelength dip is closer to where my speakers are more directional)! Can't move my speakers out in the room where I am, might not be staying in this apartment and city for much longer so don't want to invest in absorption panels. Seems weird to me people don't talk about front wall bounce issues much at all, I'm sure close to the front wall with no treatment behind is quite common, thank you for replying and making me feel..less ignorant lol!
