Hey just wanted to quickly post my experience with the daybreak iem and eartips used for anyone who may be struggling with the issues outlined in https://headphones.com/blogs/reviews/crinear-daybreak-review-the-new-benchmark "The Eartip Problem" - relating to them being a bit too sharp/piercing. I tried various different wide bore tips, and they just do not work for my ear shape. I've been through my entire tip collection trying to find something that would fix the same thing i was experiencing and getting farly dismayed in the process.

In the end i found the solution that worked for me, and if anyone else has this wide tip bore problem where they can't use them, i'd recommend using the rose/pink or orange ear tips found in the package that comes with the 7hz Salnotes Zero 2 - they really sound fantastic having used them - it may increase the warmth a bit, but it is scary how good these sound now with them added as far as transparency and feeling like you're listening to the instruments in a studio booth with the top end under control.

The other tips i have that also seemed to work are the SONICFOAM SF0 Medium (although i suspect the SF1 may be a better choice for the size of the nozzle) - they were a set i had for a different IEM. Interestingly both the orange zero 2 tips and SONICFOAMs have the same shape - so perhaps it is a shape issue.

Hope this helps someone else out there who can't use wide bores.

I've found the Dunu S&S and Spinfit W1 to work well for my ears and these IEMs. I do insert them deeply so seal is not an issue. Sounds fantastic.

Wide bore eartips generally emphasise higher frequencies so not sure why you choose them to attenuate the treble?, eartip choice largely depends on personal canal shape and volume and what works on one iem may not work on another due to changes in iem nozzle length, width and iem shell fit within the ear/pinna.

With my 5 iem’s I use Penon liquor tips on two iem’s, Dunu S&S on one, Divinus Velvet, and not sure what I use from my box o’ tips for my Sony xba-n3

So did some research on this, and have found a wide bore tip that did work in the end. Tangsu Tang sancai wide and can see why people have been suggesting wide bore -treble peakiness solved (at least for my ear size/shape) and sound stage opens up somewhat too.

It seems, at least according to this link and the investigation done within that the wide bore doesn't necessarily boost the treble, but moves the prominent frequency further up the scale.

This for me has been, so far, a brilliant solution.

I found the blue ones shown below as good enough for me, at least for the highs.

So have had these Daybreak IEMs for a while now and for me, given the below setup, it's one of the best things i've listened to in headphone/IEM land. Believe i may have finally hit endgame.
  • Crinear Daybreak using the 4.4mm balanced jack
  • Linsoul Tangzu Tang Sancai Wide Bore Silicone Eartips (blue ones fit me best)
  • Fiio BTR15 with the below equaliser APO EQ replicated. It is set to low gain mode at 24/25 volume and UAudio mode 2.0 and Dual DAC mode is enabled (i think by default if you use the 4.4mm jack it enables anyway) running into my PC using the ASIO drivers.

The really great thing about this is as long as i match the ASIO DAW bit rate as what windows sound control panel is set to (so i can A/B against other tracks outside the DAW easily), i now have a really good sounding pair of IEMs to mix with as the EQ is built into the hardware of the BTR 15. It also seems to oddly cope with more plugins than when im using my Motu m4 without breaking up. Running at 96khz 32 bit for listening to match DAW but could crank it higher (not that i think it'd make much if any difference).

EQ:
Preamp: -4.9 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 200 Hz Gain -1.8 dB Q 1.4
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 420 Hz Gain 0.7 dB Q 4.800
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 1500 Hz Gain -0.7 dB Q 2.900
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 2400 Hz Gain 0.7 dB Q 4.800
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 3700 Hz Gain 0.7 dB Q 4.100
Filter 6: ON PK Fc 9000 Hz Gain 5.5 dB Q 4.1
Filter 7: ON PK Fc 15000 Hz Gain -4.8 dB Q 1.500
Filter 8: ON PK Fc 18000 Hz Gain -3.7 dB Q 2.1
Filter 9: ON PK Fc 20000 Hz Gain 4 dB Q 1.9
Filter 10: ON PK Fc 50 Hz Gain 0.5 dB Q 1.700

Penon orange liqueur tips for the win, for me. I use them on other IEMs with similar reliable fit.
