As you all know this is a independent, non-commercial forum. While we want to promote good information and forensic analysis of products we are not here as a sales platform.

We invite manufacturers and industry insiders to help explore products for the benefit of all but we will not be used as a sales platform.

It can be a hard line to walk but we can't afford to compromise or even be perceived to have compromised our neutral, non-commercial ideals.

Please help us keep this site and the information contained within as credible as possible.

The whole point of having industry insiders and allowing threads to be initiated by them is to provide a insight to the function of products and a Q&A element you simply can't get without manufacturers/ industry insider support.

They get a little exposure and we get great content and can help folks know more about products. It's win win, or should be. This is being abused right now and simply won't be allowed to continue.

If all a thread is is viral marketing and is absent of any specialist data ( just has normal subjective blurb that can be found anywhere) then why should we support it?

This situation has been bothersome for some time but things just recently have gone to a whole new level of 'taking liberties '. ( to put it lightly and rather politely)

I have to agree with Thomas that to retain the credibility of the site we need to walk that very fine line between providing good information and becoming a shill for manufacturers. We never want it to appear as if we are "in the pocket" of anyone.
We have all seen the hawking of products going on elsewhere and know our own reactions to same. Cynical blokes that we are.
Let's see how this goes, tweaking of options is always available.

I would expect that on a site like this one, designers and manufacturers would be the ones who would supply the most in terms of measurements and data. Sadly, the opposite seems to be the case. It's disappointing.

Agreed. I think it's valuable to have them here, but they shouldn't be significant contributors to the 'subjective noise floor' of the forum.

I know we don't have hard and fast rules against posting anything subjective, but perhaps those who are promoting their products should provide objective evidence supporting their claims (either measurements or controlled listening tests)? If either (1) extraordinary claims are not made, or (2) extraordinary claims are backed up by solid evidence, I know I wouldn't mind discussions about such products.

This doesn't seem like the forum for selling "solutions in search of problems." There are plenty of other places on the 'net where people will gobble that stuff up and probably buy the product too!

If standing up for the truth, and what I believe in is lacking common since then I guess you're right.

It would be much easier if I just said what everyone wanted to hear and join in with all the other sheep in the flock I know.

The subjectivist/dealer who banned me from WBF gave me an ultimatum via private message to disclose the products I have in the works or be banned. I refused, and shortly after, when I defended a racist comment towards you I was wiped out, along with my sub forum.

(Moderator, I can't speak for other forums but the reasons you have been sanctioned here on occasion are very different. A simple matter of being rude, obnoxious, insulting and relentless in pursuit of argument to the point you lose all sight of reality. )
