Cover me I'm going in! - Post your favorite song covers.

There was a hit in 1999 that was a hit pretty much everywhere, but the US. Just to give context. Original:

Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler

Cover:

Freestyler by Steve'n'Seagulls

Pretty good cover musically. He can't compete with Lemmy's voice though.
This is a good comment. I do like some covers a lot and still not more than the original. I really love The Cure Purple Haze:

The latest viral sensation on the interwebs is 16-yr-old Nene Royal from Thailand, whose solo metalized performance of Zombie by the Cranberries on AGT has accumulated hundreds of millions of views across all platforms:

She first picked up a guitar at age 7, when she overslept on registration day for summer classes at her school. She had wanted to take a computer class, but the only remaining opening was Western acoustic guitar. No one in her family knew anything about music. Her dad bought her the cheapest model acoustic guitar from a big-box store. The first song she learned in the class was Zombie. She fell in love with playing. Her dad liked heavy-metal and often listened to it at the house, so she heard a lot of it. She got her first electric guitar at age 9. By age 10 she was an absolute virtuoso. Here she is shredding "Through Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce at age 10:

She also started taking vocal lessons and is an accomplished singer. Here she is (age 15 I believe) covering "Married to the Blues" by the Nortons:

She continues to busk at the market, either with her band Ozone (she is the oldest) or solo. Here is a recent performance of I‐E‐A‐I‐A‐I‐O by System of a Down with Ozone. Post-AGT, she is drawing big crowds!

Nothing else matters (Metallica) jazzified:

There is definitely not a fair allocation of musical talent. That voice at 15. Wow.

I rest my case, yer onner.

Though married to the blues showcases her voice far better than the others.

Art Garfunkel, "Why Worry". Originally written by Mark Knopfler and first recorded by Dire Straits on Brothers in Arms.

One of those rare covers that stands on its own. It keeps the beauty of the original while giving it a warmer, more intimate feel. Garfunkel's voice is a perfect fit for the song.

Fleurine & Brad Mehldau, "The Logical Song", originally by Supertramp, written by Roger Hodgson.

A very different take on the classic. Built around piano, voice, and subtle strings touches, Mehldau's arrangement and Fleurine's interpretation add a new dimension rather than taking anything away from the original. His treatment gives the song a jazz-inspired character, while Fleurine's vocals bring a more intimate feel.

Fleurine & Brad Mehldau:

Also worth hearing: Roger Hodgson's own live versions, and Sexton Blake's cover on Plays the Hits! (2007), showing how versatile this song can be.
