Hello, I'm fairly new to this audio gig. I've been looking to upgrade the current audio setup im currently using, so I have been doing some reasearch. I own a EVO 4 to start of with I use it both for my headset and my microphone but I wanna upgrade headphones. I found out that my EVO 4 is somewhat capable to run the headset im thinking of buying (It's a Dt 990 pro 250 ohm, Please leave any suggestion for others if you have any better suggestions!) But not too its fullest potential. So I figured I figured that I could buy something that could run those headphones where I found out that I can "link" My evo 4 with a DAC but im not sure how to. I have tired to figure out on my own but I can't to seem to figure it out. I wanted to buy the TOPPING DX5 as it is strong enough to run those headphones with ease (I think). But then I found it that it wouldn't really be capable of running my xlr microphone, or any other microphone of that standard. So to the earlier gigs I wanted to conected them together, I don't know how, I don't know what I need if someone is willing helping me and telling me what I need and how I can link them I would be really greatful! (if it is even possible) Sincerely :)

I can't recommend the DT990. It measures bad and also sounds bad, personally.

The HD560S is a much better choice:

You can't link the EVO 4 with an external DAC, but you can plug the EVO 4's Line out into an external Headphone Amp.

This will bypass the EVO 4's weak internal Amp.

Thank you so much! So what cable do I need do get to bypass the EVO 4's weak amp, What cables maybe a good amp u could recomend even for the headset you recommended! If you could tell me i would appriciate it a lot:) Sincerely Michal

Or pherhaps my evo 4 could run that headphone, I just want some crisp noise nice "thump" I guess im not that hardcore but something better than what I currently got being my dt 990 pro 80 ohm

At the side of the EVO 4 they would have 1/4" jack (TRS) connectors (to connect to the monitor outputs). On the side of the headphone amp it depends on which amp you plan to buy. It could be jack, XLR or RCA. Whatever the outcome, such cables are available of the shelf. (And the EVO 4 supports the use of mono jack connectors to connect to RCA amp inputs).

Thanks a lot! Could u recommend an amp for under 200$ that would be able to suit pherhaps the hd650 as sir static recomended :) I don't need to be at that high dollar margain but if i could spent an extra 30$ lets say to have it be better and pherhaps "more future proof" I would consider it:) Sincerely Michal

Note the HD560S was recommended. Different price class! If you use the headphones with a mic, you might consider a closed headphone like the Beyerdynamic DT700 PRO X.

No I don't. I have an seperate XLR microphone but looking at the suggestion and me comparing the research and reviewing it I think im getting the hd560's instead

I looked at the JDS you linked reading a bit it says its for convience and not for power, pherhaps there is a better alternative like I dont know a schiit magani heretic

Then you need to read again.
In the case I buy the atom amp 2, What cable would I need cause im once again sorry, I am not that knowladged All I know is that I need a 1/4th TRS Jack to what I would asume looking at the Atom 2 being RCA. I'm not sure with balanced and unbalanced stuff but if someone would be able to tell me I would honestly really appricate it, Sorry for my lack for expertise. Sincerly Michal

With the Atom Amp having both RCA and 3.5 mm stereo inputs, you have several different options:
1/4" TRS to 2x RCA
3.5 mm stereo with adapter to 1/4" at one side (or a direct 3.5 m to 1/4" stereo)
whould i place the TRS in the headphone jack of my EVO 4 and then place the 2x TRS in the in jacks on the Left and right in. In the atom amp (ps its only 1x TRS > 2x RCA right?)

Ima use 1/4 trs to rca, how long should the cable be cause i've read that if the cable is too long it can be a bad thing. Ima have the Evo 4 and Atom amp next to each other so i dont need that long of a cable i would asume cause idk how it works with balanced and unbalanced and i dont wanna screw something up :D

Just read this thread and I’m not sure this was interpreted correctly.
I have an seperate XLR microphone
It is common to use closed back headphones when using a microphone to prevent the headphone sound being picked up by the microphone and causing a loop or echo. This may or may not matter depending upon your use case.

Apologies if it is I who have misunderstood the thread.

oh its fine dont worry, It started with that I wanted to upgrade to a new headset but my EVO 4 couldnt handle it and I asked people how I could still use my EVO 4 for my xlr microphone and just get a headphone amp with the headset but have them "linked" together
