Hi,
I’m considering to configure my old Arcam Diva A70: A70 Manual as a power amplifier.
I’m told it can be achieved with Processor Mode (taken from the manual):
This mode enables you to adjust the gain of the amplifier. The amplifier can then be used to drive the front left and right speakers in a surround sound system when fed from a separate processor. You can then control the volume of the entire system using the processor, feeding the sound into the TAPE input. Set the gain to match the amplifiers that drive your other loudspeakers.
As far as I understand I shall do the following:
a: Set the gain accordingly
b: Connect the external preamp output port to A70 Tape Input port
c: Switch to Tape Input mode.
Is it correct so far?
I have another questions to this setup.
1. I read from some resources the configured gain shall be maximal. Is it OK?
2. Is the preamp circuit (including volume control) in A70 bypassed this way?
3. Why Tape Input port? What’s the difference if a real cassette player is connected?
