Coffee - do you and how do you consume it?

In the past few years, Breville seems to be trying to make a move to go upscale.

Their webpage checks many -latest buzzword- boxes that may please even those who enjoy cold extraction and cold brews.

This has been a PSA and not an endorsement!
I have had (and still do have) some of their other products: they have all done (and continue to do) their jobs in an exemplary manner.
So I would have high hopes for this.
Maybe next year: when it has a known track record.

one that claims do everything usually is not good at anything.
but their cold brew is just this https://www.breville.com/inspiratio...s/espresso-extraction/how-to-make-a-cold-brew
not exactly "cold brew" as people would imagine

I'm not impressed by the "gold" finish. Revolting.

Colors usually do not bother me one way or another (unless the colors severly clash with my décor) but if it doesn't do what it should, I'll blast it for trying to look awesome (and failing that, as well failing to BE awesome). I can forgive the color IF it is an awesome machine and it's coffee is awesome.

Iced coffee (I usually drink iced coffee but I make it the normal way and then put a carafe of it in the refrigerator [no actual ice involved])

So ... chilled coffee.

Doesn't every family in the US have a navy/blue Cuisinart in their kitchen?
But, I digress:

They even thought of 'anties':

Following up on the saga of my DF83V experience...

I decided to hold off on buying a new grinder, so no Niche Zero, Lagom Casa, or whatever... for now at least.

I did get 83mm Mazzer Burrs and switched out the stock DLC Espresso Burrs that Mii Coffee included with my Grinder.

D@mn. I shoulda done this much sooner. Much much. ;)

All the finicky problems I was having are completely nonexistent now. My shots have been more consistent in timing and the flavor profile is almost where I wanted it from a Conical v. Flat type of conversation. The sweetness is more prevalent than before and cream is consistently baking up half my shot.

I need to experiment with whether I can get away from the Puck Diapers I was using because the old Burrs had me grinding so fine they were clogging the holes of my Unibasket (which I do like (the basket, not the clogging)).

Also, as part of the equation, I am updosing my shots by 2g: 22g in, 14g out in 30sec is my routine for now.

It was the guy at Varia who replied to me that mentioned a major difference in performance between Burr Coatings and the level of hardness which makes the biggest difference. For their swappable Burrs, the conical versions are all 1 design with 4 different coating levels. The harder the coating, the "cleaner" and less sweet the shot. Now whether that claim truly bears out, I can't say, but in my limited test case I might tend to agree.

I've been using the Niche Duo for a few years now, but the adjustment-dial slowly walks (to a finer grind), when the motor is running.
When I contacted Niche regarding this problem, they had a few suggestion that wouldn't/didn't work.
I was recently looking-up what moka-pots offer in a yt review by James Hoffman, and noticed that his kitchen/lab uses a Niche Duo.

Wayyyyyyyy back in this thread; I recall/read you were doing ~2:1 ratio -- whereas I do ~1:2 ratio (16.6.gm dose/34gm yield X2=quad).
I have to cut mine with 5gm of sugar-in-the-raw. Don't tell me you take your shots straight up... machismo-style!

I absolutely do.

Whenever I get a machine I can steam milk on, I’ll start making more Gibraltars than not, most likely. I love my half’n’half bump with good spro!

Generally, I consume my coffee from a cup, pouring it gently into my mouth.

For a full & manly breakfast, I have 2 capsules of Lavazza Ristretto 12/13, with frothed organic milk. In the UK, it is as close to having dried, crude oil as possible, which is what makes it good, except not as expensive.

Manly-man don't use capsules, not for breakfast, or for any other reason.:p
A spoon would probably stand-up in @ryanosaur 's brew to salute him for being a manly-man!

As opposed to the synthetic variety ... like synthetic oil?

Oooo, do we have a topic about coffees?
That's all I'm saying :P

I do 20 in / 60 out in 20-24 sec
..............
(light/ultralight coffee)
I do 16.6gm dose / 34gm yield, in ~32seconds.

On a lever-machine, using locally-roasted, daily ground, medium roast beans.
A dopio for my mate, and a quad for me.

I find it almost impossible to froth just 50gm of whole [non-synthetic] milk, without scorching it.
