Possibly - I don't actually control for pressure. I adjust the grind to create the slow flow dark flecked crema I like.ymmv but 9 bar is far from optimal for the coffee I most enjoy

Hear, hear. I support dialing to taste and taste alone (although I don't like the taste of crema and the style of espresso I tend to enjoy most has little to none of it)Possibly - I don't actually control for pressure. I adjust the grind to create the slow flow dark flecked crema I like.

In a fit of post purchase justification (but mainly for fun) I've done some sums from the last 11.5 years. My new machine, Rocket Espresso Appartamento TCA arrived yesterday
250ml milk / cup.
It's a mug full. EDIT : - actually slightly more, plus I've failed to account for around 40 to 50ml of espresso. So in fact it should be around 200ml. Takes £0.04 off my per cup cost. That's quarter of a litre of milk per cup. Seems like a lot.![]()
$20-25 per 12 oz bag. I have been buying beans from Partners Coffee lately. For those that buy whole bean light roast online, how much are you paying for mid-high to higher end?
Agree with Turtle. Several US roaster I’ve looked at are $20-25 at 12oz. $45for 2# bag and perhaps free shipping with a subscription. For those that buy whole bean light roast online, how much are you paying for mid-high to higher end?

Yep, Rave’ Christmas Blend is fantastic.. I’ve found Rave to be the one of the best coffee roasters in the UK ..I’ve been drinking two double espresso’s a day since I bought my first gaggia in the mid 90’s for a personal 21st birthday present so say 30years which for myself (never mind factoring in the many espresso/coffees made for others) is .036 x 365 x 30 = 394 kg of coffee beans, there is no day when I do not make coffee for someone else so it’s very likely I have used well over 1/2 ton of coffee beans
At my current habit/caffeine addiction I see I have bought 16kg of beans from Rave Coffee Roasters this year, so that’s £450 i’ve spent on beans
My current blend of choice from Rave is Christmas Blend, fruitcake, molasses and cocoa
ABOUT CHRISTMAS BLEND Nº 22
Our Christmas blend is one of our favourite blends to craft each year. We combine coffees we know and love that deliver super sweet, fruity and chocolatey flavour notes.
This year we are proud to work with the smallholders of Hermosa once more, alongside an Organic producer-group from Mexico and finally a washed processed coffee from Ethiopia.

I'm paying about $47 CAD for 2 lb delivered to my house from a local roaster. I hear the coffee bean supplies have recovered but I doubt prices will come down as a result.Agree with Turtle. Several US roaster I’ve looked at are $20-25 at 12oz. $45for 2# bag and perhaps free shipping with a subscription.I usually crush 1#per week, so that’s the way to go if you find a roaster you like.
I'm lucky enough to have a deli within cycling distance that roasts at least once a week.
They sell it too quick for it to go stale IME.Not wishing to overtly criticise but I imagine those beans will be rapidly becoming stale and losing all their flavinoids and terpenes due to oxidation as they are not in sealed containers and are also exposed to light.
Roast - seal with valve for off gassing - keep in the dark
Whatever Tim Wendelboe asks me to payFor those that buy whole bean light roast online, how much are you paying for mid-high to higher end?
Supermarket beans are hideous and would have been roasted many months before you get to use them .. Life is too short for bad coffeeIts their consistency in roasting and vfm whilst supporting/paying the growers a feasible working wage that I like, I’m sure I could buy Aldi beans for 1/2 the price but I imagine they’d leave me with a disappointing bitter aftertaste![]()
