Coffee - do you and how do you consume it?

Just got given this, apparently had issues gave it a clean service and works well now.
Have to say strong setting double shots is close to my taste didn't come with milk frother container, but its not like I use milk unless I get burnt beans .
Weird bean to Cup it's quicker than my grow the beans, roast the beans, grind the beans and temper the beans!

I feel lazy now.

Day five:
I pretty much decided to send it back. Was gonna go one more time today but chose not to.

What I will say about this experience using the Shaker is that it did positively affect the mouthfeel of the shot. My best description is that it created more texture/structure in the Crema. If I were attempting to quantify how much difference I could note in overall flavor profile I would truthfully say this was very minimal.

The handling of the ground coffee will make subtle changes as can be detected by just doing a light tamp vs heavy tamp, or if you settle the grind vs not.
Shaker, long gone from my life, I find myself happily working with the Normcore Dosing Funnel I ordered.
For now, I’m content that it is effectively eliminating almost all dust from around my grinder.

Sharing my new coffee ritual-- weekly cleaning. After taking apart and rebuilding my Gaggia I can see what just a month of use can do inside of a boiler. I filter my water and a thin but visible layer built up on the inside. If I wasn't so busy I would've taken a picture.

Being a Northern European, consuming copious aumounts coffee is part of my culture. For me normal daily dose is 2 to 4 cups, sometimes more.

I usually brew my coffee with a French press and use dark roast, preferably Arabica coffee although some mixes with Robusta can be ok. Two of my favourite coffees are Swedish Löfsbergs Kharisma or Finnish Paulig's Presidentti Sapphire ground coffee.

I sooooo wish I could convince you to go simple old-skool but I know that'd be impossible:
I'd even let you choose the color of the this 'Superkop" lever-machine, which is fully manual, requires no apps, does no streaming and lacks a power switch!

But in truth, I don't think I'd be willing to swap my LaPavoni Stradivari lever for this.
For me, it would be like stepping-down from a DAT machine back to cassettes!

This guy himself drinks some Colombian ground coffee.

I still have no desire to train myself to pull a consistent shot like that. Though if I were going to, it would be a La Pavoni or Elektra.

As for a streaming Espresso machine... I am still intrigued by Decent Machines. ;)

But I get good STREAM from my Miss Sylvia, no tablet or phone required. :p

That aside I am looking hard at new grinders. Single Dose is a must, as is Doserless and Stepless.
The Turin DF 64 and 83 are very interesting. So is the Timemore, but uncertain how changing Burrs on that works.

Anybody here playing with any of those grinders? I've seen some reviews and such... but curious beyond that.

Funny @ryanosaur, wish I had any advice but I do the opposite now. Before, I was looking at the DF64 with the swappable flat burrs. I've seen some Niche Zero's for sale at a remarkable markdown. Someone had the upgrade itch or decided to move on? The used market is insane right now. Better yet, if you live in a dense area, craigslist has an enormous list of surprisingly good models. Some are barely touched.

Someone was practically throwing their Sette 270wi in the trash a few weeks ago and I am now a full convert into the cult of grind-to-weight. I don't even puck prep anymore. Just a paper filter on both sides and a 40 second bloom. This is the insane consistency that people talk about wanting. Sometimes I make my espresso an espresso with all the saved time. They're good, too. I've had some of my best shots recently after shimming and dialing in the new grinder for long, slow, high extraction shots. The only messing around I do anymore is wetting the bottom filter so it stays in place.

My routine is: Clean portafilter, 55mm paper filter on the bottom, spritz with water, push the grind button twice, crush the coffee volcano, 58mm paper filter, brew button.
No funnels, no WDT or RDT, no shaker or dosing or weighing the portafilter after. No more weighing my coffee output. My corner is as simple as I can make it now, and it's the best it's ever been. Will adding more steps improve my coffee? Maybe. But I am enjoying the simplicity of easy, quality espresso.

I recently picked up a kg (2.2lbs) of Lavazza Crema e Gusto bean. It is delicious and creamy feeling. Wonderful flavor. :D I've been doing very hot pour overs into a beer mug with 3 heaping tablespoons of bean ground to a medium consistency and that is a very good strength of caffeine dose. I really appreciate this bean and the price of around CAN $19 is awesome.

Oh, Yeah!
Not that I have done any actual hardware comparisons but my LaPavoni Stradivari becomes less inconsistent @pulling shots when the grinds are delivered through my new Niche Duo.
A pleasure to use and micro-adjustable for different beans. :)
See my original purchase/replacement requirements in this post.

What caused this change after modding your Sylvia Pro?
Well, I still have it! It went to work. Basically I had an opportunity to pick one up for basically half price so how could I say no?
