Coax project using Audison Voce II AVX 6.5 II speaker

Hmm, interesting that you got much better response than published on their home page!
I'll see if I can hop in Elettromedia next time I'm in Marche...

I suspect that their measurements were done using the supplied hardware crossover
My measurements were done with a custom digital crossover with totally different settings vs the supplied one
I am planning to try the supplied crossover too, at a later point

I am still collecting some listening experience with these drivers; I will post them here later on

Let me share some subjective comments about these speakers after having spent like two weeks with them:

At first they sounded a bit boring but then they gradually started to open up (similarly to the 5.5" Sica I tested earlier)
They are hyper-detailed and extremely airy - I have never had any speakers like this in my living room in terms of 'airy and open' sound but without being harsh or fatiguing at the same time

Check this out with headphones to hear what I am referring to:

So from this point of view they are magnificent indeed

On the 'negative' side: midrange is not as forward as with any of my previous full range speakers (this might be 'normal', actually) and the speakers do not 'disappear' as much as for example with the 5.5" Sica drivers I tried (but that is not an apple to apple comparison since they were put in differently shaped and sized cabinets)

All in all I would put this on my recommended list. It is not cheap (500 EUR a pair) but the passive crossovers are included in that price (btw. I still have not tried those)

Next step is to try these in open baffle cabinets (I know they are not optimized for that but just for the fun of it)
I will publish that during the course of next week here

Any comments/questions are welcome

So, as promised, I have put these speakers into an open baffle cabinet :)

I have never tried anything like this so I had totally no expectations - I knew that bass will suffer but more on that later

This is the 'cabinet'

Let's see the measurements!
(at MLP, approx. 250cm away from the speakers)

Left channel only, from 80Hz

As expected, not much down there.....

L+R, from 40Hz

20-25dB would need to be compensated with EQ

Let's see that in action, with the sub added from 80Hz:

Actually pretty good, but.....:

Distortion gets pretty high around 100Hz - gets a bit better with Dirac on (green curve) but still high
I can totally hear it when doing the sweeps but to be honest I don't think I can hear it with music....

IR got a bit worse due to reflections but still not too bad in my opinion:

Blue is with closed cabinet, pink is open baffle

What is really interesting is that GD became much much better (OB highlighted)

Subjectively:
I have to say I really love the sound - it is open, airy and the stage/instrument placement is definitely not worse vs. with the sealed cabinets (I was worried that due to the reflections that would be worse but that is not the case)
The only drawback that I think I hear is that the low-mids/upper bass lacks a bit of energy (despite boosting it with EQ)

Listen to these 3 videos with headphones:

Next step in probably a few weeks' time is to build the OB boxes into bass reflex cabinets tuned to Fs - stay tuned! (pun intended) :)

Forgot yesterday, this is how the frequency response looks like now (in the OB cabinet), with all pre and post processing (incl. Dirac)
