I love my DT 1990 Pro at home. But they are openback, so a big nono in my work, don't want to annoy other with my jazz. Any bright closed back headphones that you know about that are available in EU around 500 eur (upper limit)?

I though about getting DT 1770 Pro, if nothing comes around to at least try.

I would love to get Aventho 300, as they tick all boxes and I can wear them outside as well if necessary, but they are not available in my country except some dodgy sellers, I guess I will have to try them out.

Austrian Audio Hi-X60 would be an option when you prefer the DT1990 with the Analytical pads and don't use any EQ.
When you prefer the DT1990 with the (not really) balanced pads there may well be other options.

Wireless or ANC could work in an office. Things like the JBL TUNE 710 BT (no N.C.) are cheap and probably closer to a DT1990 (balanced) than the DT1770.
After 2 or 3 years of usage you may have to buy something else though.
With NC something like the AKG N700NC-mkII is also very good.

The DT1770 is not sounding like a closed DT1990.

AKG N700NC-mkII are unavailable, probably no longer being made.
Austrian Audio Hi-X60 has 4 last in stock in the only store in my country I could find. I will try them out.

Cheap/plastic headphones are simply not an option. They need to last, not being dead after year or so.

May I ask @solderdude which closed headphones would you personally get for yourself, if you had to get something around 500, disregarding my listening preferences?

One that would be pleasant to wear, have the response I prefer without having to use EQ, have good aftermarket support, reasonable price.
I don't mind about plastic being used ... the right plastic in the proper place.

I personally like the sound of the (treble peak filtered) DT1990pro (the original one) with analytic pads and OLLO S5X/X1 (with some treble reduction) as my target sound.
Harman bass is simply too much... impressive bass but not realistic to me with well made recordings.
Based on that tonal character:

The closed one I use most (had to make it fit my head) is the HD620S (not suited for all people).
Should I not have had the HD620Se and needed to buy one I would likely buy the Hi-X60 and filter the treble (it is a bit bright/sharp but not as bad as a stock DT1990)
What also worked for me was a modified SRH-840A (too dark sounding stock).
A cheap but nice build quality and comfort option would be the FiiO FT1 (with lows reduced, similarish to SRH-840A) and might have kept it if I did not have the HD620S.
Another one could be the Denon AH-D5200 (it oozes luxury feel and lush sound but does not isolate well).
Above € 500,- makes little sense to me but when a gun was put to my head one of DCA closed headphones.
Also quite liked the modified DT1770 Pro mkII but requires drilling holes, filtering and whatnot to get it to sound the way I want.

Fiio FT1.
For the rest buy something like Qudelix T71/Fiio KA15/KA17
EQ for taste/personal hrtf and be happy.

In the office I like to have wireless.
Having both focal bathys and apple max I tend to use the Apple max most.
The switching between (iPhone) calls / music and windows teams meeting is fast and easy.
Although the focal is sound wise a bit more my taste, the sturdy feel of the apple max and easy to use buttons on the shells are things that give a smile. ( I’m a mechanical engineer)
The Apple max case isn’t bad either, it packs small and the very sturdy headband doesn’t need protection. I pack it daily in my backpack with laptop and lots of other junk. Don’t want to do this with my focal.
Only downside of the max are the blend design and missing on/off switch.

As a 58 year old bass playing motor driver who spend his life in loud disco and concerts, my opinion about sound quality is not very useful anymore.

Yes if one is considering wireless, Audeze Maxwell is very good.
Just be sure to buy from reliable source with warranty. There were reports about some issues/broken units/drivers.

I have some FT1 for the office and they are good solid headphones but lean a bit towards the bass side of things which I actually rather enjoy compared to my Sundaras that I use at home. The only issue is they are a bit bulky to carry around.
