I am interested in measurement systems other than the Klippel. There is a 2023 Review here of CLIO 12.0; there is a 12.5 version and has anyone looked at that one?

Curious as to current opinions… I also think it exceeds my level of understanding/knowledge to be of any use for me. All thoughts appreciated!

This is a key point and you are perspicacious to realize it- the tool is only as good as the user.

The CLIO systems (I think current is the 14) are versatile and powerful- in the right hands and with some patience, you can get most of the important information that a Klippel will provide (impedance, frequency and phase response, polar pattern, distortion, compression...), though it takes extra work and time. Then again, it's not $100k+. The key is "the right hands."

One thing you might consider is a less expensive option like the CLIO Pocket. It's about 1/3 the price of the full blown CLIO system and will give you a good path to learning how to measure. At the same time, it will get you the most important results. Then you can step up to a more expensive tool without getting overwhelmed or being in danger of generating tons of bad data.
