I've been listening to this musician/composer frequently over the last two days.

This is just incredible, streaming on Amazon Music HD(24/192). The initial crescendo is spine tingling!

Johannes Brahms: Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34
Till Fellner, piano
Belcea Quartet

“But for me, the high point of this two-disc set is the intense and beautifully integrated account of the Piano Quintet. Here we have a true partnership of equals, with Tell Fellner fitting into the Belcea’s distinctive performing ethic like a hand into a glove, neither dominating nor being subservient, but a true and instinctive chamber partner. This is very vividly displayed in the opening of the slow movement where the piano seems to be such an integral part of the texture that the tendency we sometimes experience in this music for it to sound like a piano concerto with reduced orchestra seems to belong to an altogether different world. Here is a deeply rewarding performance.”

Someone is on a Brahm's kick.

But for some reason, I tend to play the Piano duo arrangement more?

Very lovely recital. I believe it's the best selling among the Naxos Laurate series along with Kyuhee Park (known as fiend of the tremolo)

My parents had been insisting that I see Yunchan Lim’s Cliburn final Rach 3 for months. I finally viewed it on line. OMG I can’t wait to buy it on CD. The hyperbole and raves are justified. The greatest ever? Maybe. You can tell the conductor Marin Alsop is having a good time and convinced that he is the winner as is the audience approving with a roaring standing ovation It’s one of those OMG what did I just witness? moments

Going on a bit of a Also Sprach Zarathustra bender after listening to it a few times testing bass recently off the “Time Warp” album, and hearing an interesting live recording off the forthcoming “Santa Conducts Strauss” album (with conductor grunts I think).

This is a good read: https://www.gramophone.co.uk/featur...ustra-a-complete-guide-to-the-best-recordings

Picked out the New York Philharmonic / Guiseppe Sinopoli to begin.

Enjoying the new Atmos mix of Trevor Pinnock and the English Concert's 1982 recording of the Brandenburg Concertos (released on Bach's birthday yesterday according to DG). Not much difference to me from the stereo on headphones (haven't had a chance to try on surround system) but a good excuse to revisit one of my favourite works.
