Class D: Hypex/ICE/Purifi vs. Pro Amps

This. I've never really understood why all parties must be so loud. But I've always been a bit different.
Is just the people been there, even doing nothing, silent.
I sometimes take a look at REW meter when some 3-4 friends gather here and it hits 60dB-65dB (A) at it's most silent (normal, with only me in is 32dB-35dB (A) ) .

Now imagine ten or fifty people, and the SPL needs go up the chart.

Which only makes matters worse, if way too loud music is added to the background noise.
No one can really listen to that music, and no one can talk to anyone without shouting.
And yet, almost everyone does this.

Clearly some folks like to have people over for quiet conversation while others like to have people over for a party.
Sometimes the first scenario evolves into the second scenario and it's good to be prepared for either :)

And, sometimes (so I assume) they turn up the volume, because they think it "belongs" to a party, not knowing about any other party scenario.

In my experience, the folks at the party determine how loud the music is as well as what type of music is preferred
The people who'd rather not listen to the music usually hang out back with the smokers. YMMV

It's all about finding a working compromise. Not always possible, but sometimes... some want silly kid's songs, other want furious dance music... and suddenly, you have an idea.

That one was a HUGE hit last new year's party. :D
