Choosing preamp -understanding measurements

Narrowing down my search for a new preamp and am looking at the following 2 models

Emotiva BasX PT-100

Pro-ject Pre Box S2 Analogue (or the older model Pre Box DS)

Is there anything in the measurement specs of each product I should be paying attention too or any recommendations for either ?

I might buy based on balanced design, control functionality (see thread by that name) and looks.

The active component least likely to affect SQ is the pre-amp.

Thanks. I don't need a balanced design but I do need a good volume remote and a few rca inputs.

Alternatively I could just change my dac and go for a Topping dac/preamp with bluetooth but I'm concerned that the remote would be crappy and not work very well.
Would a cheap topping with these features sound as good as something more expensive ?
