Can someone help me choosing between HD600 and HD6XX? The 6XX from drop appears to be cheaper however a few extra bucks should not spol the party. Thanks for your help!

If you are going to EQ them buy the cheapest one or the one that is the best looking to you.
Note: the current HD600 and HD650 is slightly different from the older ones (pads, mainly).

When using them without EQ the HD6XX is slightly warmer sounding.

If you have my ears/brain, neither. The 650 sounded too good - a decade of use led to Tinnitus! If you do go ahead, use at lowest volumes, and take lots of breaks. Personally, I wish I'd just ignored headphones, stuck with speakers, and had more silent hobbies. So my recommendation would be buy a kindle and read more...

There's no difference you can easily hear between the those models. That's unless you are an audiophile and only then you can write pages on how different those 2 headphones sound... :D

I think I might roll with the 58X, a bit cheaper than the 6XX and they will be EQd anyway
What Mal said above, watch those EARS,
Over a decade of working around Jet engines, with ear protection, blowing gas lines (as loud as a jet engine), hard on the ears,
Just Saying

There are better options than HD58x for the price, EQ has less chance of success if the pinna rise and adjacent ranges aren't decently defined IME.

I'm assuming you like the DTs? I've heard a lot of neg things about Beyers
I like their DT880 and DT250-250, not DT250-80 or DT990. For other brands I like AKG K612, but not K702. I like AKG K371 and Shure SRH440 to mention a few closed backs from other brands. Hope this gives you an idea.

Thanks, I did want to mention also, these will be run thru a Btr-7

Buy the cheapest one. They are identical or so close to identical that subtle sample variations might swing a headphone one way or another. One thing to say about the Sennheiser HD6— Series.…. they are near indestructible and probably the only headphone I can say will easily last you two decades with regular use and abuse. And all parts are easily replaceable. It was my first “real” headphone so I hold it in very high regard.

Apart from sound, HD6XX does seem to be a bit muddier but difficult to tell.
A couple of differences on the appearance and usability side:
  • 6XX came with a large case/box while 600 did not
  • 600 cable is thinner, longer and the 3.5mm to 1/4 is screw on
