I'm itching to pull the trigger on the Revel performabe f228be speakers. My concern is an AHB2 Benchmark amp at 100 watts @ 8ohms would efficiently drive them. The rating is 50-350. Ideally, I would get another Benchmark to serve to bi-amp.

Amp before speakers or vice versa?

I take it that you meant getting another AHB2, and run each in bridged mono? That would give you 500W on tap.
( "Bi-amp" usually refers to using one amp for the low frequency drivers and another for the mid- and high-frequency drivers. I don't think much of that.)

Since you've been a member since 2023, I'm sure that you have seen the reviews of both the AHB2 and the Revel ... right?

There is also a current thread on the AHB2 that you might find interesting.

Dennis, don't pull that trigger on the 228s too quickly. I'm very close (likely) to letting go of my system: Revel F328Be and Benchmark stack - Dac3B, LA4 and (2) AHB2. They are all in Mint condition. I love this package, so it's a tough decision.

The 228s are pretty sensitive, rated 90dB and looks like they live up to it. 100w will get you to about 110dB and 350 will get you to about 115 at 1m. 5dB can make a real difference but unless you're sitting pretty darn far from these speakers I think the 100w should be decent. 110dB is already enough to shred your eardrums in short order, so...

I have read the reviews. What got me

I can have these crated and shipped from a dealer for 6400 USD vs. 8000 USD from other sources. If I was to need to bridge w/ another AHB2, the savings would mitigate the cost.

Serving as mono-blocks was the intent. However, unlike my M105's and M106's, these are equipped for bi-amping. The only reason I asked was Amirm's comment when measuring them "Impedance dips low and with some phase angle so you better have a stout amplifier to drive the F228be:".

They come in road crates and would ship via a freight courier, likely bound on a pallet. These are silver, which to me is more of a metallic grey. I like it, it’s neutral in most rooms, not the same old black monoliths. I did not like the walnut finish in person. It looked a little fake to me. When I said these are mint, they still have the little protective plastic tape over the emblems. The bass is fantastic. Unless you’re in large room, I doubt you would need two AHB2s. If I don’t sell these, I’m still going to sell one of the amps, because it’s not needed.

My room is ~14w x 16 deep. I appreciate the input regarding another amp. I would be curious as to the desired price for the amp.

^ For the AHB2 I was thinking $2400.
