I have a LG C1 tv and I just bought a loxjie a30 amp and kanto yu6 passive speakers. I was just thinking maybe instead of the amp I should have gotten a receiver. I use a PC not smart apps or traditional tv channels for my content and most of my content is 1080p streamed from the PC. I am wondering do I even need an AVR if I am not going for anything more than 3.0/3.1? My original plan was to have 2.0 or 2.1 with these speakers and a small sub(I am in an apartment and do not want a lot of bass, just enough to make sure the tv does not sound hollow) but now I am wondering if I may want to add a center speaker later maybe I should go ahead and get a receiver now instead of spending $200 on this amp.

What is the cheapest new receiver you would recommend for my use? Stereo or AVR if you think I really need AVR.

Thanks!

Thanks. I will check that out. I am going to see how this amp and the speakers sound but if I do not like them I may go with an AVR like the one you linked or a Denon like the 760.

I have a Pioneer Av Receiver. Using its equalization resource the sound gets really better. Also, I believe tha even in entry level models you can stream musics from, for example, your mobile phone via your home network to the receiver via mconnect app. I use it and I am very happy with it.

I had the ProCinema 800. They were awful.

These Dayton Audios are much better:

Another option:

I have an older S740H that I've been using in a 3.1 setup for a few years now and it's working great. I like Audyssey room correction (even the entry level one) better than entry level YPAO on Yamaha. Bought it as a refurb from A4L for about $230.
Denon are really good.

I liked my procenter 1000. Now I got a Procenter 2000, because my Klipsch RC-62 II is to big for my actual room.

Thank you everyone for the great feedback and tips. I will read through these and see if any fit what I need. I am thinking of upgrading to 5.0 or 5.1 now.

Good! I you will find good 5.1 AV receivers from Denon, Yamaha and Onkyo for a good price. I suggest to check if they have any kind of EQ and support music via UpnP or have services of Tidal, Spotify etc inside.

Thanks. I am looking mostly at the Denon s760H from costco. Looks like a great deal.
