Change Phase of Sub After Audyssey Calibration?

Hi everyone -

I have a quick-ish question, which might take longer on the answer. In my HT, I have a 7.2.4 setup. I have run and re-run Audyssey calibration a ton of times, moving things around. After calibration, I run REW and check the results. I have noticed that I have 5-10db dips in the 20-40 Hz range after calibration, but if I make a change to my phase control, I can smooth it out. My sub in question is a Paradigm PW-2200. I don't know if the make, model etc make difference. My question isn't why does changing the phase affect the output, but rather, why does Audyssey calibrate it with a dip, that I correct with phase, only to then re-run Audyssey, and then the dip is back in place? I can then move the phase control and smooth it out again, but why does a reset of Audyssey have that dip?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The time arrival to your ears. Do your measuments show a major improvement? Check your MLP, possible it's null.

Most likely room mode related nulls but it could also how you run calibrations, or acombination of other factors. In my experience, adjusting the phase knobs rarely improve those nulls by much so if you could level it off then you are in luck.

With two subs, obviously you must have let subeq ht to time align them. That, as you know, is done in the first step. Other than that, you can also use MultEQ X, ot tbe $20 app with Ratbuddyssey to minimize the nulls, though that could be very time consuming, and onehastk know how to do it. Again, if adjusting the phase knobs did it for you, then great..
