It was interesting to see Panasonic HDMI transceivers on their input/output boards.

index.php

Notice the improper PC board layout (traces from IC to the connectors). All traces for HDMI need to have equal length. They are bending them 90 degrees causing the outside traces to be longer than inside, causing "skew" error.

Worse yet, different ports have different lengths. I expect to see compatibility issues that impact some ports but not others!

How many more channels / Atmos / etc do people need?

I saw 22.2 at 384k in some UHDTV spec

My first thought, "Only two subs?"

Here is the proper way to route differential signals, making sure traces are equal length

I wonder at what frequency and switchback spacing the signal would begin jumping the gaps and taking the shortest path.

And what exactly is the criteria for "Bad Ass"?

My first thought is some medical condition that should be taken care of immediately, despite the potential embarassment at the doctor's office.

Is home theater still an active and growing market?

How many more channels / Atmos / etc do people need?
Oh, it is hugely active. I don't have stats but it hugely dwarfs 2-channel audio market.

I thought they had given the award to themselves. :)

Jim Clements needs to get out more if he thinks that amplifier is bad-ass. Class H has been around forever as have modular amplifiers.

Their speakers sounded horrible. They are clearly "phoned in" from China products.
Thanks for listening. Bit surprising, I thought they reached for a higher shelf than that. :(

It has got a bit ridiculous to be sure, specially for the normal home user.
But then there are the guys with the huge dedicated home theaters that it can work very well for. All it takes is big money.
And a whole lot less crazy than $100k^ home stereo. o_O

Two cheezy computer fans put in there like that??? No intake from outside? What happens when they die?
Just like a computer, they get noisy, you replace them. ;)
There's so much of this inexpensive stuff out there being made and/or branded by ATI, Monoprice, etc also. People judge this junk on a watt/$ basis. Basx A-700, 7 channels of 110w @ 8 ohms $509 LOL, expect it to let the smoke out soon.
But it is cheap. ;)
